lazs, the little jap truck, a toyota tacoma caught fire.  a wire going to the trailer brake receptacle was chaffing and it caused a short which started a fire in the harness just aft of the cab.  I was able to pull off of the expressway and with my fire extinguisher, extinguish the flames.

we rewired the truck in my shop ourselves.

one week or so later I rearended a lady in a suburban that fled the scene but I had pretty much bent the truck badly.

I bought a new nissan titan which is a 3/4 ton pickup with a 5.6L V8.  the truck has power to spare and is really powerful within 2500-3500 rpm.  the truck absolutely rips.

in the mean time I stripped the toyota and sent it to a local frame shop where they pulled it into specs.  I bought a bunch of taiwanese/chinese after market body parts and rebuilt the truck.  paid a talented painter to paint it in our paint booth and upgraded the electronics to 2007 standards I now have an estimated $7500 worth of work in a really nice looking and functioning 1999 toyota tacoma that I might be able to get $4500 for.

I drive the tacoma daily,  I prefer it over the nissan.  I use the nissan to pull stuff on the weekend though.

I should have added for a stock truck.  go test drive one, see for yourself.  I paid $27k for the vehicle  33k out of the door with full replacement insurance and a 100k mile warranty.
