Serenity the solution to your problem is simple. Lose the cell phone. There is really no reason you need one to get through adolescence and you should be paying attention to school right now, not a freaking phone.

I didn't get my kid a cell phone at all and he was able to get through high school and 2 years of college so far just fine without one. If he wants a cell phone, he knows how to get one. All it takes is a job and then he can spend his money on it.
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

Amen Mav!!!!

Sound Advice!

Hell I didn't get my first Cell Phone until I was 38.

No wonder kids nowadays are fat and lazy.

The intention of some parents, like my own, is to give their kids cell phones "just in case".  Of course there are also parents who buy their kids the newest fanciest phone so they can be cool and text all their friends.

Could you imagine if kids these days had to go back 30 years?:O

my brother-in-law got my nephew a cell 2 years ago when he was 13. the first thing he showed him was the power button. he has never had a bill over $40 and he pays it every month by doing chores (washing cars, mowing the lawn, ect...).  just shut the damn thing off!!

My youngest daughter has had a cell phone since she wa 12. She is 16 now, and only once went over on her time. Was only about 20 bucks more, she said she would be more careful and to this day she still has a phone. Our family is very busy, I have a successful business and am Executive Vice President of the Board Of Directors at my daughter's school, wife works for Budweiser, youngest daughter has Band, Tae Kwon Do, and just started a job. Nice to be able to get hold of her when I need to.

And a good title pun as well -- "My time is numbered."

Feared this would be a tragic thread about exiting, but it's just more kid fingers running amok in parents' checkbook.  :(
