Proxies aren't counted in the expanded format kill stats, only deaths by being shot down.  It also doesn't count ditch deaths or crashes.  So the number for deaths in is the number of times you were actually shot down.

Really? had no idea...so when your plane gets shot up, ya get a good (apparently) ditch, but it says "You have crahed. some dumb skank dweeb shot you down", it doesnt count as a death?

Wrong. Crash and auger are not counted.
If someone gets a kill on you (and that is the case with proxies), it's counted in stats. He must not had actually hit you. Every credited kills shows up in expanded stats.
