Whiteman & DiabloTX Go To Cherry Hill, Galveston.
« on: July 09, 2007, 10:01:06 AM »
Yesterday whiteman and I, accompanied with Mrs. Diablo, went on an LS1 cruise from Houston down to Cherry Hill, Galveston, an historic place for hotrods and racing since the late '50's.  Had fun, met some nice people, got redder than a commie, and saw some nice rides.

The starting point: the AMC 30 theater near my apartment.

Whiteman(left) and Diablo(right in hat and shades) discuss cars.

Whiteman's ride.

Diablo's ride.

'67 RS Camaro with a chevy small-block stroker 383 driven by who you see in the pic.

Cars lined up.

Very nice S.O.M. 'vette.

A pic from my father in law from '59 at Cherry Hill, Galveston.  A true hotrod.

There was a total of about 40 cars at the cruise.  Some didn't make it due to fear of rain (it's rained everyday for the past 2 weeks).  The turn out was strong enough that another cruise is going to be run on the rainout date next Sunday.  Gonna make that one, too!

:aok

Yeah there were all types there.  Even though it was considered an LS1 cruise anybody was welcome.  Even had a Supra twin-turbo and a VW rabbit among others.  Needless to say it was all about fun!

Yeah I was behind it when we left the AMC.  I thought, "Damn those rear tires are wide!"  When we got under the bridge for the u-turn it sounded sweeeet.

I count 3 Ca Vehicle code violations on the Corvette, 2 on Whitemans and 1, maybe 2 on Diablos.

Any guesses?

I would guess that just because they are "real" cars makes them illegal in Kalifornia...

Southside one? 45 & 8? Few years back the Supra meet was around the one @ Westheimer & Dunvale. Good fun.

thats the one. this one was small compared to some of the others the last couple months before the rain. Previous one had 200+ cars, rolling car show.

Uh, No.

Vette: 1) Unlawful tint 2) Front plate absent 3) object obstructing drivers view (hanging from mirror)

Whiteman: 1) Unlawful tint 2) Front plate absent
Diablo : 1) unlawful tint, maybe 2) Front plate absent

Unlawful tint can be unique to Ca, some states allow other than factory tint on the drivers / passengers front windows, even the windshield. In Ca no tint beyond "factory" is allowed unless there's a passenger mirror, even then only windows behind the driver can be tinted.

No front plate and objects obstructing drivers view (hanging from mirror) probably apply in Texas. No big deal, but good enough for Johnny Law to use as PC.
