I am too excited!
« on: July 12, 2007, 09:19:13 PM »
I just found Vat-Sim. It supports FS 2004, and I'm not sure, yet I think FSX too. Has a huge multiplayer community. This is truly, As Real As it Gets.

ATCs (Over 100) use only real ATC terminologies to communicate with pilots, and the pilots are expected to respond correctly. There is no chatting allowed, after all, you don't hear pilots talking to each other (Hey, did you see that bugger? He almost rammed me... Heh heh heh)

To me, this is extremely realistic. I highly recommend anyone looking for a good FS 2004 or FSX community to check this out!

A buddy of mine is a controller for them.  The tools they use on the ATC side are very similar to what you would find in a TRACON or Center as capabilities go.  Pretty neat.

He was explaining the what seemed limitless add ons and programs they use for everything from radios and transponders to traffic/clearance info.  I used one service way back where you filed flight plans, were issued clearances and fit into the various ATC systems including controller handoffs and such.  It wasn't to the same scale Vatsim is/was at the time with members but I never bothered to get the programs that go along with Vatsim up and running.

No.

"Simulations of emergency situations are not forbidden on VATSIM.  However, air traffic controllers have the right to deny the simulation of an emergency and pilots must stop the emergency if requested to do so.  If the pilot is unable to stop the emergency, the pilot must log off the network.  It is strictly forbidden to simulate hijacking-situations. - (102a & 102d)"

So what do you do in this sim?  What's the point?  Tell me that at least you can ram other planes.
