I like all the responses so far.  it seems we have the people who play for a fight offering their opinions and the others offering guff.  I wonder why that is?

interesting stuff to me.

Because the people who play for a fight start entirely new threads to offer guff?  I dunno, but this should get interesting :)

Is it possible to hijack your own thread?

Probably because many of those who "play for the fight" are at times highly vocal and derogatory of those players who prefer aircraft that were not designed for the dogfighting the "play for the fight" players prefer.  Especially when they fly their aircraft to it's own strengths rather than to the expectations of the "play for the fight" players.

(Caveat, the answer above is general in nature, I read through only the first few posts in the thread that prompted this one early this morning, and haven't read the remainder yet).

:rofl  or maybe, they have no clue what their plains strengths are.  For example, Germans did not create 190s for the purpose of HOing, cherry picking, and vulching.  I have not seen any official documents on that but I think I am right :rofl

would you believe I out turn some players in A6Ms with a 110G because all they look for is the HO?

at times I think it's become epidemic.  since the culture has changed so drastically especially since AH2 I understand why some people gravitate to toolshedding.  that wasn't always the case though because I recall a time when those types of players were basically the fringe and now they have become the cutting edge.  AH is now a retarded game of capture the flag.

Ummm I'd have to say that (perhaps) indirectly it was created for all 3.  HOing: sure, they would HO bombers for the most part, keeps you in their gun range for the least amount of time.  Cherry picking: absolutly, if your in the position to cherry pick your flying properly.  Vulching, definatly, ever hear of lightning strikes by 190's on airfields?

:rofl See what I mean?  Completely clueless and unable to read or comprehend what they just read.

No one ever complained about hoing a buff in AH.  No one said hoing ganging vulching etc are not valid tactics in real war.  What I said was that the 190 was not designed with vulching, cherry picking, and HOing FIGHTERS in mind ONLY

Dont worry, I don't expect anyone to get what I said.

The tactic was to attack the cockpit of the bomber, but it was not done by HOing for the most part. The german plane would fly just outside of the bomber's gun range untill it was slightly ahead of the target bomber. The would then go full throttle and turn into the bomber firing at the cockpit area and not pulling away untill the very last second.
I don't think anyone has a problem with HOing bombers anyways, it's much smarter to do that than come up on their 6.

Why not just take the HO ?  110G vs A6M: I think it's safe to say you'd vaporize the guy and REALLY show him the error of his dweeb ways.

it really is more fun to try and turn with them.  I take front quarter shots but try to avoid the direct HO.  it seems I lose those just as often as not irrespective of what ride I'm in.
