I just went online and logged into LWO. The first message I get in radio is "SYSTEM: You shot down Zionist #1".

According to expanded player vs player stats I was credited for a kill on his B-17 in a Hurrican IID...

Not a bug, more like..someone shot his bomber down, and the attacker probably got vaporised "by whatever means" and by the time the bomber pilot bailed from his now toasty b17, you just happend to show up on the scene, and you were granted the kill by proxy. "bnecause the attacker is out of range, or dead"

I remember watching a formation of lancs flying too slow and low to make it over the mountian ranges, so he aparently crashed into the hillside fairly hard, anyhow i was 3.0k above him, looking over my wing..and i never fired a shot.
No one was in dar range, guess who got the kills?

Gotta love it.

I did't show up the scene. Actually I wasn't even flying, being 1 second in tower after log on.

You were still "in the area" therefor you got the proxy kill.
People dont understand that when you are the tower, you are technecly still "in" a object, plane,gv,gun .ect
I would say your timeing was just dumb luck, but the kill is a proxy and is always awarded as such.

I also dont think proxy kills have any impact on your score, but i could be wrong on that one.

Well at any rate, enjoy the kill.

But i dont think it something you or HT needs to loose sleep over, i wouldnt.

I pretty much understand what a proxy kill is. Fact is, I never before got a proxy while being in tower.
Nor does that explains why I got this kill in a Hurricane IID.

BTW, proxy kills do affect score.

Let me reprise:

HE was flying a B17
I was allegedly flying a Hurricane IID

But actually I didn't fly at all.

I'm on dialup and when the game begins to fill in the roster and radar dots(slowly) it seems as if everyone starts in the middle of the map and shifts to where they really are.

Wild theory but this may be where you crossed paths. As for the HurriD, was it the last plane you flew in that arena on you previous visit?

Hmmm... I DID fly a D last night, though I can't remember if it was the last plane.
