Neubob, Saleen's are junk. They aren't worth the money they are charging. I've never been impressed with any of their products. The Veyron took the concept of the EB110 and kicked the McLaren F1 in the nuts. Which was a feat all together.
Also, I figured I'd post a fun thread instead of the BS plaguing the board these days.
Saleens and McLarens are proper race cars though. The S7 is pretty new, but was created for, and is a regular participant on the GT circuit. It's also competed in the Le Mans 24 hour race--and no piece of junk can do that. It has won numerous times at GT, has proven itself a dependable and adaptable competitor, and will likely continue to do so. The street version is essentially the race car, only more powerful with 2 turbos. Saleen's mustangs may suck, but mustangs are basically **** off the production line, and a polished terd is still a terd.
On an aesthetic basis, I think the Saleen s7 makes the veyron look big and bulbous. Utterly without grace. A sumo wrestler in a world of kickboxers. And its top speed claim is about to fall too. there are already cars out there the, Barabus tkr, for example, that are claiming close to 270. Smaller, prettier, lighter, more powerful... Just as expensive though.
I may be missing something, but the Veyron does not race on any competative circuits. It's huge and heavy, and would get crushed by the competition in the corners.
As for value, I think the Veyron is more overpriced than any of them.
I do appreciate the thread though, Mash. 100% better than the political/religious tripe we've been inhaling lately. Top Gear is one of my favorite shows--especially when they showcase Ferraris, which, I think, is still the pedigree in the world of impractical supercars. To each his own, though, right?
