some updated thoughts on the AvA...

after having flwon in the current enviornment a bit more.

I'd say its a similiar enviornment to the original public beta (late 99) more then anything else. Obviously the historical plane set is different but the more limited plane set (in 99) led to similiar play style. Additionally the low numbers forced folks to look for close fields and created the fairly constant roving low level "furball" that worked back and forth.

So we appear (from my vantage point at lest) to have the same fundemental styles at work. The B&Z picker, the E fighting work the furball, the furballer and the "hook" {this is the guy who flies around the furball and camps the other sides entry/egress}....

As things heated up gameplay got good, but is not how the regulars tend to perceive it. As furball position/numbers altered you were either ganger or gangee...no real ability to either let a guy up or finish a fight. Obviously the few pickers/hooks compounded this and my best fights went largely unfinished as a result. HOing is not only a reality but can almost be a neccesity. Over the weekend I HO'd 4 or 5 folks...all but one intentional. The unintentional one was TC...he was going up and I followed him..when he tried to reverse to clear his nose fell right on me (in my FE) so I lit him up hoping to fly thru while trying to roll wings parallel. He actually took a collision on his FE {guessing he was doing same and my roll stuck a wingtip in his path}...

Two of the others were oli? {on same hop}[landed em :)]...I'm simply not getting stalked by pissants. He'll either leave me alone or go down {force me and i'll get my nose around with the best of em}....

The others were the result of being in the under and having the con initiate a vertical fight....then "square the nose" to create a HO and flair back up if you hold the course...or pop you if you "evade". Accordingly if your above me and roll into me I'm gonna light you up from now on if your hanging over "my" field".

At the same time I passed on a multitude of HO's with jam ,ded, oldman, pangea and a host of others who's flying styles I recognized {and so did they}...

Certainly more fun then the MA but alot of catch-22's in flying style. To many opportunists to fly "queensbury rules" so I alternated. One flight I flew kill the picker, the next "smart" then just waded in and mixed it up.

Will again comment that JG was evenly distributed and provided some of the most entertaining fights as well as good support....overall a fun time:aok
