v0.902 is out.

Includes lots of quests, books (not sure how that works, but probably allows you to increase specific skills), more castles, better village improvements and lots more.

Its a nice update. The combat system was improved to make it more realistic.

The AI before was a berserker slashing at insanely high speed with long reach weapons while they were sniffing your beard (close range). I couldnt swing my dagger as fast as they swung a long spear when our shields were touching.

Now the AI actually takes half a second to raise their weapons in the swinging motion or stab motion. Fighting on foot is now a lot more do-able.

However, 2 big issues remain: insane 'skill' difference between your troops (at max upgrade) vs NPC troops (even of same type).. my elite archers can barely bring anyone down unless the target is at close range whereas the npc archers (not even elite) mow down my elite infantry at very long range. Similar issue to that is the NPC's tremendous access to ranged weapons... I cannot approach a group of nord warriors without having each one lob 10 spears at me with great accuracy and damage.. but my own nord warriors hardly use their spears. Its just weird.

I've gone from horse fighting to being a dagger/shield fighter. Mucho fun.

oh, by the way, i figured out with the new versions, if you cannot import your character, export one from the new version and just edit the stats in the Char Export folder in notepad until you get them to where you want them.

I wish they'd fix how characters interact with terrain. It's stupid watching horsemen ride up 60-70degree inclines and mow down your infantry. :p
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

Not to mention towns.  I was assaulting a town the other day and it should have been an easy go except I lost about 20 men because they all just sit on the ladder and fight one at a time.  Half of them didn't even make it past the double wall because the AI couldnt even figure it out.  I was doing most of the fighting myself taking out 30 men a day until finally I gave up and licked my wounds.

Such a cool game.  I've been hooked for about a month now.  The possible additions to this game seem limitless too.
