X52 goes wacky
« on: December 29, 2007, 10:18:54 PM »
I just got a new X52 stick was working fine and all of a sudden I gets  all wacky.. Out of Calibration in game and windows. I have tryed a Powered USB hub and also this  http://www.saitekusa.com/USA/supp/recalibration.htm

I have also tryed Reg window drivers and Saitek drivers. I have deleted the stick and started from scratch. Ill fly for an hr or 2 and it just goes wacky again. Has this happened to any of you and did you get a Fix for it.. Thx in advance

My x52 is about 9 months old.  Outside of my frustration with the SST software/driver matchup issues it has performed really well, mapped in AH no SST.

But!  tonight for example I had been flying for about an hour when it seemed like the controls got mushy, lack of correct input the plane was much harder to control (same plane type all nite).  This does happen intermittently.  I reboot and everything is fine again.

It doesnt happen all the time and Im running on a stripped down dual boot Win xp with FS autostart so I know (don't think) its something in the backround.  I also run it off of a powered hub.

My personal opion is its the drivers in my case.  If yours is anything like mine try rebooting the computer, as a quick test.

Good Luck

Reboot Fixes the problem but only temporarily. Or if I unplug the stick and replug it in. But that means having to leave game and do this every few hrs. I do not use the SST software and I also use Win XP. IM just getting very frustrated :furious :cry:D

Wax, as much as I like having a disarmed Muppet in the air, I think I may be able to help. At least I hope so.

I had terrible issues with the x52 pro as well. What some one told me was to give your axis at desktop some deadzone and give your x & y dials some deadzone as well. It seems that for some reason the x & y dials act as trim adjustments. Then move your stick through the test page about 4 to 8 times for each control. Then do the same for your controls in AH. I know it did wonders for my stick.

I hope this helps.

Another thought Wax. Make sure you don't have 2 drivers installed for Saitek. Believe it or not I had this happen. I think I had a beta version and the original showing up at the same time.

where do you give it deadband? I've went to the stick properties in control panel and I don't see it there.

In the control Panel under game controllers. There should be a test page and the next tab should say "Deadzone".

You still having the trouble Wax?  Mine has done that once.  Very weird, just all of a sudden it lost calibration.  Unplug and replug and it's fine.

Lambo,

You probably need to download the drivers. After I switched from MS Sidewinder to x52 I noticed the change.

Yup still having same dam problem I have tryed many diff things. Drivers,Tweeks, Unpluged,Reinstalled,
I even thought It was the game sound that was doing it and did a fresh install of AH2. There 1 other thing im going to try before I smash this dam stick with a hammer.. IM going to do a fresh OS xp on a new hard drive. If that dont work Ill just smash it.. For some reason I think its windows.. While in the game flying I get a Micro screen freezes when I fire my guns in a fight and thats when it looses calibration. Its really driving me nutz. I cant even use my old stick..Its gone..

There's still the possibility that somewhere between the buttons and the motherboard, there's a false contact or something... Make sure you install nothing but the bare minimum for your pc to work (e.g. directx; not the saitek stuff), and let the drivers included with Windows take care of the X52 when you plug it in.

Been where you are in the frustration department with my x52 pro.

Wax, I think I saw you up. So I guess you got it fixed, Great.

Just to let you know what happened to me, I downloaded the SST program and immediately had the same problem. Deleted it and recalibrated and it was gone.
