You WILL believe!
« on: February 17, 2008, 12:27:29 PM »
Seem in Kalifornia all the little Komrades WILL be taught to BELIEVE...

http://www.mercurynews.com/education/ci_8269190

how convenient.

IMHO this creates s system of MORE Government control over our young people and  eventually USE.

When all those young people BELIEVE and are able to vote they will vote for ?

Really?

Glade you think so.

I've gotten some people upset when I post!

Had a few get onto a thread and more or less berate me for posting and suggest I should get a life.

I just post stuff that to me is of interest and figure others may see em that way as well.

If they don't then perhaps they shouldn't read my post :D

IF, and this is a big IF, they present the statistical data that refutes the current climate change is driven by man.

I have no problem with teaching both sides of the story....of course, that won't happen............

I wouldn't object to them teaching climate change as part of school curriculum. The problem I have is when speculation is taught as fact... without presenting alterate possibilities.

My kids respect the authority of those who oversee them in school, and for the most part take what they're taught as SOLID truth.  I'm sure that most children believe the same way.

Without strong attentiveness on the part of parents, it will be so easy for our youngest generations to grow into adulthood believing speculative theories as solid truth.

One totally nerdy thing that I used to do (which I admit I'm slacking on this year) is asking to sign out a complete book set from the school which my children learn from.  All of their schools have been very amiable about allowing that.  It's good not only for evaluating the content, but also for getting homework done ~ since the books the assignments come from are already at the house full time.  Just turn them in at the end of the year so you don't get into trouble. :)

I don't use that picking apart to run back to the school & stick their noses in it.  It's okay to teach your children that on some of the stuff, they need to learn the content because they'll be expected to know the "right" answers for the testing... but that it's not all necessarily the SOLID truth.

On a bulletin board system where the entire purpose is to discuss topics ~ I think it's pretty *funny* that you'd be berated for bringing up a topic for discussion.  In fact, I think that the berating alone is almost good enough reason to continue posting such articles.

I can't help but snicker. Kalifornia wants to indoctrinate their citizens with an imagined threat while likely deemphasizing the very real threat of earthquakes in the region. The psychiatrist in that other thread was spot on. Liberalism is a mental disorder.

Y'all want evolution teaching preceded with "This is a theory".  Would that be acceptable here?

Actually, the article was about climate change Chairboy. Let's not be so hasty to rush to the "it's all about God/No God" discussion that is inevitable.

Whoa nelly, calm down.  Just wondering if the same sticker/wording for global warming would be acceptable.  Yes/no?

Kalifornians can do whatever they want. Few more years the wording will be in Spanish whatever they decide to indoctrinate their kids with. Once the Mexicans are legallized by McCain, Clinton, or Obama they won't be satisfied with sitting in the back of the bus. I think you'll find their catholic background to be less tolerant of your godless utopian dreams.

If it is considered a theory then YES I think it should be so stated in the class room.

Something that has ALWAYS bothered me was what happened to my sons in one of their classes back in grade school.

Seems their teacher was telling all of the children in the class that the 2nd Amendment was a BAD amendment because it ALLOWED for Civil War.

I HAD to respond by telling my sons NO it wasn't BAD and YES it did allow for Civil War, as that was it's TRUE PURPOSE.

To allow the PEOPLE to throw off the yoke of tyranny should their own government try to impose such a yoke.

I then found myself explaining that the U.S. was born from a Civil War between their, at the time Sovereign the King of England, and the American Colonies.

Some call it a Rebellion.

My Sons looked upon what they were taught in school thereafter with a DIFFERENT view.
