How about an M3 with aircraft supplies......

maybe a squaddie lands at a vbase and then you could roll out w/ an m3 and make a temporary rearm pad which would intern help your squaddies plane.

Maybe...I've had times where I'd be out of gas with 8+ kills and I touch down with no damage...I always wished a goon could carry a small drum that could refuel me.

If we had "Aircraft supps" I think:

1-Only be 25% fuel
2-Only be able to be flown by goon

It's been suggested many times.
I like the idea. Imagine a few ostwinds, a wirbelwind or 4 and a small contingent of M3's forming a mobile air supply base close to the action?

A couple Tigers to clear a place to land, Panzers to defend the mobile platform, and a M16 to provide support for slow-flying aircraft.

This wouldn't be without historical precedent.  I don't know how heavily they were used during WWII, but today we call what you guys are talking about a FARP: Forward Area Refueling/Resupply Point.  I'm just not sure how well it would work on the static maps in the game where we don't really have a "Front".  I think it wouldn't be a bad idea to try though, GVs already enjoy something similar.
I can see it now,  new squadrons of resupply teams with names like "121 Support team 'The Deadmen'".  Such a point would make a great target too.
R2, did we just blow up a gas station?

Sounds like a nice idea to me. :aok

It would add another, albeit small, area for GVs and planes to work together.

Can't think of any reason not to do this, and it sounds relatively simple.

Afk for a year or so.  The name of a gun turret in game.  Falanx, huh?

As long as you no longer get your name in lights, and the second you're resupplied the sortie is scored as "ditched" then I'm fine with it.

What makes you think this is a bad idea?

Hitech has said the reason you have to land on the cement at a field and not just "near" it is to give you a challenge. You don't, then you don't get the mini-reward (name in lights).

You don't make it back to the runway, you don't get the reward.

With this suggestion, it cheapens the efforts of those that DO make it back. Sure it's not much of a reward at all, but it's fun to see. If you did NOT make it back (required more gas) that would be the same as not getting the reward. Dropping off supplies may help you get back to the runway, but the challege was already lost as soon as you picked up those supplies.

It's a game. There has to be some challenge involved. I've glided over 2 sectors in a b-17 and touched down without hardly any gas left. It was much more of a fun experience than if I had set down, got supplies, and reupped. Further, it will stick in my mind longer because of this.

So, if you implement this idea, but it doesn't change ANY other aspect of the game (you still don't get the perk bonus for landing, nor do you get the reward of your name in lights) then there's no problem.

However, if you just want it as a crutch because you want your rewards but didn't quite earn 'em, then I have a problem with it.

If you see my point?

I agree with Krusty here. This should be a forward refuel and resupply point only, you still have to be on the airfield to "land" but considering the risks of being vulched for landing so close to the action, you should still keep your kills until you make it back to an airfield.

Nope, that's the opposite of what I suggest. I say the second you use this no matter when, your sortie score is locked in as "ditched"

Even if you land safely after that point.

It's like playing Half-Life2. You can play as far as you want, but the second you enable the cheats variable it stops scoring, no matter what you do after that point, because you couldn't have done anything on your own without that "help" or that "cheat".

The plane supplies being the "cheat" in this example.

Krusty, maybe still get name in the lights, but up the number to 5-8 kills to get it in the lights?
