Restored Spitfire I back in the air.
« on: March 31, 2008, 04:38:53 PM »
Just to make sure that we have a counterpoint to the Paul Allen 109E thread :)

Saw this on another forum

AR213 the only flying Spitfire I got back up in the air recently.  They took it all the way back to production standard with 3 blade prop, slab sided canopy, external armor on the windscreen, correct exhaust stacks etc.

Painted in the markings she wore at 57 OTU.  Ginger Lacey was one of her pilots.

Wouldn't it be something to see the Allen 109E or Russell 109E flying with this bird?

Afk for a year or so.  The name of a gun turret in game.  Falanx, huh?
Apparently I'm in the 20th FG 'Loco Busters', or so the legend goes.

What would be interesting is to train the pilots to a huge extent, then have a mini Dogfight at an airshow! 109E v Spit 1, heck, I'd pay a good amount just to see that let alone a whole airshow WITH that in it!

I'd have a better chance in running into a Dodo Bird in the middle of rush hour, walking down the I-5 with two hookers in tow before I see a useful post from glock89- Ack-Ack

I don't think so macleod to put in all them man hours to rebuild them so that 2 guys could  HO ram into each other would be shameful.

Plenty of Spit IXs, XIVs, XVIII, PR19, a couple of VIII, a number of Spit V, a Spit II and this Spit I.  There are also a number of XVIs out and about.  pushing 50 flying Spits in the world right now.

What types did they use in the filming of Battle Of Britian?I recall reading that there was an early variant among the lot that all the guys wanted to fly because it handled the best. They did a good job on that Spit I.Looks very nice. Thanks for posting Corky.
