AAR for Snapshot Market Garden Supplies

Specterx LW C.O. 15 pilots
Wilbus Allied C.O. 21 pilots 2 gunners

The Allies had a tough job ahead.  They were to fly into enemy territory and drop supplies just east of V42,V 44,or V45 which were the location of friendly troops in Operation Market Garden.

The Allies went low and flew almost directly East over A1.  The LW had patrols north and south and as the event progressed it was quite interesting to watch on the DAR.  DAR was off for both sides which made it a somewhat cat and mouse affair.   For over 40 minutes the LW patrolled their sky looking high and low for the enemy without a trace.  Judging by the DAR at one point the southern patrol missed the main Allied formation by a scant 10 when they turned North. This opened the path for the Lancaster supply ships who slipped underneath and just south of the LW patrols. Finally they were spotted west of V42.  Citibra and skyman both had successful drops to supply the friendly troops.  I think one or two Lancaster's may have discoed and at least 1 ditched near a friendly field. None were listed as captured.

Allied pilots:
Harppa had 2 kills
Citibra had 1 kill and 1 assist
"no id" had 1 kill
Nexx had 1 assist

Luftwaffe pilots:
Hazed 4 kills 1 assist *almost our first Snapshot Ace!
Hedgehog 2 kills 2 assists
Gie 2 kills 1 assist
BigUC 1 kill
Tom666 1 assist
Djmachin 1 assist

LW destroyed:
1 Lancaster for 20 points
7 P-38's for 70 points = 90 total

Allies:
2 successful drops for 20 points
3 109's for 30 points
2 190's for 20 points = 70 total

Thanks to all involved for making it a fun event.

I got a kill
I killed spectrex
The cap tried thier best to keep the LW from finding the low level bombers who were too low for some of the hills it seemed.  I think we lost a couple to ground collisions.

It was a great time no matter what and there were a few new faces to scenerios in there.  I hope it caught thier interest in snapshots and perked them up for the next large scale event

Humm that "no id" can be me...I got one 190 just as he was killing our lancaster (I was skyman's gunner), and when the Lancaster died, AH dropped me to desktop.

I killed a 109 too, that's 2 kills for me...not bad right?

was fun <S>

WTG Cit & Sky

Sorry I was dumped to desktop.

I really beleave that low buff raids are the way to go in "some" Snapshot setups. I can't count the number of kills I had over the last year in a "very low" C-47.   Most times the kills are folks like me (but not as dweeb as me)...got to get the kill...compress and bury in to the ground.

<Edit>"Hazed 4 kills 1 assist *almost our first Snapshot Ace!" WTG  </Edit>

Thank you for your time Daddog. <S>

Lol, rocket is correct... dove on him from 30k, nearly ripped the wings off my 190. I pulled out, blacked out and stumbled into Rocket's turret fire.

It's so funny to look at things in hindsight... if this were the way that the battle actually turned out, historians would be on TV talking about how stupid I was to pull the southern patrols back by 20 miles... In case anyone is wondering, I got kinda nervous when so much time went by without a sighting, and thought that they might have slipped in under us, so I sent the 109's in the south back to ensure that nobody had gotten through. It must've been hilarious for Daddog to watch  .

Great snapshot indeed, and great fun until the bitter end
It really took long before spotting any axis planes, but after that it was nothing but hands sweating and fighting against heart attack  . Very big salute for all opponents, you did great
One little thing I'd like to bring to light anyway. I reminded our side that killshooter is off. Two out of three of our squad suffered from friendly fire. MASS was the first one to go down after someone was shooting an enemy plane over his shoulder. I was another one loosing my vator the same way, and then I was nothing but easy bait to LW. Hazed put me out of misery right after I called I'm going to try rtb.
Well, s**t happens they say   That's what it must have been there back in 56 years ago
P 38 is not that bad people say, but I still prefer my 109

Was great fun indeed!

Yep daddog, I ditched near V42.  I had being flying the Lancaster for about 5 miles on just one engine and finally had to ditch with altitude fast running out!

As for the low level raid, I was hoping it would cause some enemy compressions!  If it had been total darkness then I don't think they would have even sighted us
