You really are drinking in public if it is not on your property..  this case is a little over the top tho.

We are simply losing our freedoms..  For our own good of course.    Back when I was in construction starting out.. you could drink on the job.. if you were a contractor you could be drinking on the job or let your guys drink.. most had a few beers during break or lunch.

The laws changed and the times changed and it was just "too risky" to let adults make that decision sooooo...  it was no longer allowed.

You can be "brilliant" but it doesn't work.. everyone got those wraps for their beer that looked like a softdrink label..  I used to buy a 7 up and pour it out and pour in beer.. you don't see people doing that anymore.  we have simply lost the choice.

I take my seatbelt and pull it around the headrest.. it looks like I am wearing it from most angles... I have not got a ticket in 50,000 miles in that car but.. it is mostly because most of you sheep blindly obey the seatbelt law so they don't even look much anymore.

Seatbelt laws are actually kinda there for your own good. I got in a wreck wearing my Seatbelt wrong and busted my head open on the window... it sucked.

Good question. Same rules apply here, but they are never enforced unless some neighbour decides the party is annoying them and they call the cops. They would then tell ya to break it up or tell you to go inside.

The balcony thing i would not know about, but they could always take down your party if it is very loud after 23:00 and you annoy people.

yes..they are for my own good.. as is telling me what to eat or smoke or to not hike in the woods or climb trees or ride a motorcycle.   It would probly be for my own good if someone told me what to wear and when and how to exercise too.   Certainly..  dangerous sports would not be good for me.

Okay... Only thing that scares me now is driving cars... My friend got into a car wreck last summer busted up the whole side of his face. That whole side is now metal, if he hadn't been wearing a seatbelt, it woulda killed him.

And if you become disabled someone sure pays for you not wearing a belt (not that a belt always helps).

If it bothers or has a negative impact on others then it should be regulated, that is not a lack of the freedom you talk so warmly about. Too many people cannot be trusted to do the right thing. Freedom is all about. not having to suffer from other peoples idiot behavior.

I had something similar happen to me a couple of years ago.  During an OSU game day I was drinking on the front lawn of a house on campus and two bike cops rode by.  I didn't think anything about it because I was not in the street or near the sidewalk or anything.  They stopped and called me over.  They seemed disappointed when they found out I was in my late 30's and not and not a student and warned me that I was technically in violation of the State's open container in public law.  Because I was not the owner or a guest of the owner of the property I was considered in a public place.  They were cool about it and advised me to stay on the front porch.

Ohio law prohibits:

"Having an open container of alcoholic beverage in a public place, regardless of your age. Public places are those which anyone can enter freely and include sidewalks, streets, tree lawns, some outdoor areas of apartment complexes, and inside parked or moving cars."

couple things.. you don't know what would have happened to him if he was or wasn't wearing a seatbelt.   no matter what tho... it is his choice to make not yours.   I can show a picture of a wreck were it is obvious that everyone who wasn't wearing a seatbelt would have been dead.   I was in the backseat.   no one was wearing a seatbelt and no one died.   

as for nelson..  for you guys who think that now that I am forced to wear a seatbelt you save money.... what did you do with the big rebate the insurance company gave us all when the seatbelt law went into effect?

It is silly in any case.. I don't even have medical on my car insurance..  I have my own.. it costs others nothing.

still.. I would be willing to say to any insurance company that I wear em only in my hot rods and pay whatever extra premium that would be... just like those who have problems or risky behavior pay more for life insurance.

Would you forbid private aircraft of hiking or hang gliding because it raises your medical or life insurance rates?    Of course... some of you socialist utopia types would but...

I am willing to pay for my behavior.    You have no right to tell me what risks I can or cant take with my own life.

What laz said...You should have the option of not wearing a seatbelt and pay a premium for it..Same with helmets.
