I cant even start the car without my seatbelt on.. just feels wierd..

as for MY issue.. before it was HIJACKED

the main thing about the situation I experienced is the whole "slippery slope" scenario that takes place all too often with things like this.. 

1: i was on PRIVATE PROPERTY.. signs posted, no trespassing, residents and guests only.. etc etc

2: Im in MY garage, which again is private property..

3: IM NOT DOING ANYTHING OTHER THAN SITTING IN A CHAIR DRINKING A BEER!


so im IN private property, ON private property..  but I could still be ticketed for open container, or even ARRESTED.. for being drunk.. in my own garage..


BBQing and drinking beer is American heritage dammit.. kinda like how the French have....  whatever the french do.. eat croissants and surrender.. bad example... Canadians.. its like.. HOCKEY.. YEA..  ok this is going nowhere.

Next time you BBQ in the garage make sure the garage door is shut and close any windows.
Used alotta charcoal so you can get the cooking done really fast.
Then just sit back and drink a few brews...listen to maybe "Free Bird".
Makes for a relaxin day.

on another note though, i've been thinking about this while working. these seatbelt laws are actually VERY ridicoulous. they KNOW that you aren't going to wear one if you don't want to. they are nothing more than a revenue generating method.

Wow, Texas has really changed since I was last there. Back then you could drink in your car while driving down the street, and they had drive through liquor stores. 

They still do have drive through liquor stores. 

Odd thing I saw a few years ago was a drive through Margarita (sp?) place.  My girlfriend & I were driving past ~ she says, "oh, we need to drive through & get a margarita sometime." 
*blink*  drive thru margaritas?  I don't get it. 

I get the drive through & get a case to take home... but a single drink?  Seems rather irresponsible to me...

been that way for a while, they sell you the drink in a cup with a lid on it ,(closed container) poke your straw thru,(open container)

as too the original problem, it is either a local code, or a dry county, that you are in,(why do you think the bums have there bottle in a bag)
if you go to Texas motor speedway or any other public venue or event that allows alcohol, then you can drink in public, up in my part of Texas you can drink outside if you want except in the parking lot of the store where you bought it, at least in the wet counties,
 we go too the river pretty often, it is a public place,where most of the people there drink outside,   heck i think you can still drink in the backseat of your car just not in the front,(open container law states the driver can not reach the booze,must be in the back seat or behind the front seat)
i keep my bottle in the tool box, just too be sure!

I know there have been several instances where the police have pulled over a car after seeing it leave a bar, asked if the driver had been drinking.  the driver responds no, that they are the designated driver.

officer tells the passengers to exit the vehicle, askes if they have been drinking, if they say yes, public intoxication, because they got out of the car.

I was once given a field sobriety test by the LAPD somewhere in the neighborhood of Koreatown. They pulled me out, started checking my pupils, then gave me the regular list of questions, tasks to perform. Thing is, they pulled me out of the back seat after the Designated Driver ran a red.

Cops will be cops. They become cops for a reason, but when ideology gives way to reality, they often revert to being bullies. I'm cool with it because I'm pretty sure that if they saw us getting car jacked, or shot at, or mugged, bullies or not, they'd have done their job.
