What they need to do is weed out the riff raff and spend their time teaching those that want to learn.

Yep, this imho is a good tactic, alltough shootings could come from this in "revenge" so to speak. But im with ya 100%, in every class you got 1-4 people thats there to cause problem only. Kick em out for good and let their parents handle their "education".

School aint supposed to be a friggin daycare center.

All children in a classroom should carry a gun, otherwise all the killer has to do is shoot at the teacher first.

Plus, there is the risk that killer challenges himself to try to kill the teacher with his own weapon.

Ahother solution could be building schools with glass roofs and a tall tower at the center where a sniper team permanently controls every child behaviour from.

What most of you probably didn't notice is this entire West Texas school district has 110 students. That's K - 12.
It's not like arming teachers in Dallas or Houston where there may actually be a threat of school violence.

I would say that they were a prime target just waiting to happen considering their location.
Very wise move IMO.

Tell that to the victims at West Nickel Mines School.

I'm wondering why they'd do it in Small Towns in Texas? I live in a mid-sized town and almost nothing outside of a small fight ever happens. Until they can give it to teachers in big cities, no use.

Just curious.....

If they receive the same amount of money for everone, why would they specifically recruit "riff raff".  Is this to boost their numbers, even though the law requires every child to attend school.  Of course exceptions are made for home schooling and pvt. schools.

I guess I don't get the connection.  Then again I was educated by the public school system.

You guys' do realize that even if the Laws' in Pennsylvania had allowed the Teacher at West Nickel mines' school to go armed, that due to a fairly strict upbringing in Amish ways that include a belief of Nonresistance http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nonresistance That they wouldn't have done anything anyway? As a matter of fact, one of the boys' actually carried the guys' shotgun in to the school for him.

That wacko Milk truck driver knew that the amish would be the easiest target around; They wouldn't defend themselves' even if they held a gun in their own hands, due to their religous beliefs.

yeah, if they could have.. i can just see one or two of the demented power tripping teachers that i had with an ivory grip .45 auto tucked away in their desk draw to compliment their engraved leather strapping strap and lacquered bamboo cane.

School security is a Catch-22 situation;  either the school hires armed security guards and puts one in each classroom, or they arm trained and qualified teachers.  That is IF they want to prevent anymore Columbines.

Those of you citing examples of demented teachers wielding firearms in the school seem to have no problem with arming the police....some of which have been severely demented themselves.

By the way, I read an official summary of the Columbine shootings that was issued some months after the shootings, and the conventional wisdom that was first quoted about Harris and Kliebold being picked on outcasts was bunk.  The little salamanders were just that...salamanders.  The leader, Harris, was adjudged to be psychotic and violently anti-social.  For no reason, apparently, other than he wanted to hurt people and break things.

I was raised near a small town. Population at the time was around a whopping 600.
We had what can only be called an "assault team" rob the local bank. Entry team, rooftop snipers and ground perimeter set up by the robbers. Yeah.....................noth ing ever happens in a small town.
