I agree, but much of the wealth in this country was acquired in a less than honorable manner.  Parts of capitalism are downright evil in their greed driven rape of their fellow man.  How do you feel about the Federal Reserve, Lazs?

Much of the wealth of this country lies in the hands of people that actually earned it... most of them started out as immigrants or poor and had a work ethic and desire to succeed. Most of the folks that grew up here find that somehow reprehensible behavior... and would rather be a system parasite than actually create new jobs, new businesses and grow thier wealth thru hard work.

I pay the same as most working americans.. last year, 31% of my income. I live in the most powerful western democracy in the world. We do great things... have done great things. Hopefully, will continue doing great things. While the waste and pork and corruption sucks, trading what we have for anything else out there, anywhere else, would be far worse than what we have. Can it be better? Sure. Lets work for that.

But I don't begrudge paying my fair share of taxes... nothing is free. Not even freedom.

Skyrock, it SHOULD be obvious that people do far better in countries that value liberty, capatilism and democracy.  

Even the socialist and communist countries have learned that they will crash and burn  if they do not embrace capitalism to some degree.

I pay mine as well.  You must be reading more into my post, never did I say I wanted any other form of government, just that my government do what is right.   Many laws were written specifically to legally steal part of our hard earned money, and I will never like that part of "Our great country".

One of the poll agencies ran a poll awile back, the question was : Is Your Senator/ Congressman Corrupt?

The answer was, nationally, an overwhelming 'No.' This was at the same time congress had a single digit approval rating with the same poll agency.

Seems folks are convinced THEIR congressman is ok, it's all the other ones that are corrupt.

Change won't occur till we ALL refuse to send back an incumbent.

ALL INCUMBENTS. Local, state and federal.

So, if you want change.. change your politicians.

Sry for butting in here Skyrock but my problem is with your statement:

Capitalism is not evil.  It is people who are corrupt.  Capitalism exists outside of partisan political parties. Capitalism occurs naturally. Anywhere that governments set up a forced communist or socialist system, they have to expend enormous effort to stamp out free market capitalism.  Yet in spite of their efforts, huge blackmarkets will persist. Those at the highest levels of communist and socialist states will engage in it. Capitalism is the only way for economies to thrive long term.

We DO have to be capitalists to enjoy the fruits of our own labor.  Communists and socialists want to enjoy the fruits of somebody else's labor.  Coerced redistribution will ALWAYS ruin the human spirit of both those who are coerced and those who receive the benifit of the coercion.  It will always tank the economy eventually.
