6.1 Quake on Vancouver Island???
« on: August 28, 2008, 09:07:54 AM »
That is what is being reported on the news right now. If so that could not be good for that region. Those guys are sitting on fill and marsh land all around the Vancouver, Richmond area where the airport is. I hope my friends are safe up there.

Well now they have updated the story to say it was 95 miles off the NW tip of the island and about 6 miles underground. No reports of damage or anything else.

eh...small earthquakes are not unusual on the pacific coast here. This last one was 90 miles or so NE of the top of the island.

I used to live on the island years ago, and all we ever felt was a small tremor.  It is close to a fault line though, so I suppose it is only a matter of time before a significant quake happens, or not.

cheers,

Yea, I'm in Gold River, pretty much central Vancouver Island. Still waiting for that big one to sink the island!

Our Local news Global BC has said that there was no damage and that it occurred too far out and too deep for a fear of a tsunami.

Those deep quakes that rumble are known up North as "Beaver farts".

Beaver farts are no where near as bad as the explosive emissions from the gastronomically encumbered Swamp Donkey though!

As you can clearly see, it has knocked all the leaves off the trees in the rear, and has been noted to be the cause of global warming up here!

How aboot that eh?
