No doubt she and her partner in crime knew all about those things you mention. Your glee is misplaced. This won't hurt the Republican chance to win the election a bit. If anything, it will humanize them even more.
FWIW, the only thing I was laughing at is a neo-con (make no mistake, Palin is one...) being bit in the bellybutton by her own views.  There's no humor in a 17 year old getting preggers, in fact, I find it laudable that she's keeping the child and marrying the father.  It's the neo-con, "conservative" family-values that I'm getting a chuckle out of...  Face reality already, kids like screwing, they're gonna do it.  Be responsible and throw 'em some rubbers so their lust doesn't impact the rest of their life.

11. Are you offended by the phrase “Under God” in the Pledge of Allegiance? Why or why not?

SP: Not on your life. If it was good enough for the founding fathers, its good enough for me and I’ll fight in defense of our Pledge of Allegiance.

jeez even I know this is wrong. twice.

hehe,

written in 1892 by a Baptist minister.  Which of the founding fathers was still alive? :D

Words "under God" added in 1954.

I don't know what the teen pregnancy rate is in Alaska, but I wouldn't be surprised if it is far above the rate in the continental US. Small isolated towns, few activities for kids.

how do you Republicans out there feel about a VP who doesnt seem to know who wrote the Declaration/Constitution and the Pledge?

not as bad as democrats who need cue cards to recite the pledge.

I would say that it doesn't hurt anything.

No cover-ups, just the truth...it's shouldn't matter anyway.

It might hurt Obama if he goes off and says something like how it's sad that the poor girl is being punished for her mistake.

What do you mean no cover ups.. They pulled her out of school 5 months ago claiming she had Mono.  :lol

The "only" reason she came public was because of all the eRumors claiming the newest baby was the daughters. They had to go public to squash that rumor.

btw for those that think kids are off limits and the Dem's are just disgraceful...Well then lets not forget the gem John McCain himself said.

"Why is Chelsea Clinton so ugly? Because her father is Janet Reno.”

So, she's 5 months pregnant now.  That means that they took her out of school right at the beginning of the pregnancy, according to you.

Do you have any links to the facts surrounding her being removed from school?

They reportedly pulled her out of school for 5 months during her mother's pregnancy.  That was one of the things that started the rumour that Palin wasn't Trig's mother.  Obviously that rumour was false.

it was a serious question - I wouldnt know enough about the details to put a X in either box in a US election but the politics is fascinating to watch from the outside :)

My son doesn't share my faith in God, in fact, he's a buddhist. Does that mean I got bit in the arse by my views? Of course not, it just means he has a mind of his own and exercised his own free will to make his own choices.

Bristol Palin made her own choices and, for better or worse, will face the consequences of those choices.

17 years old and pregnant? Is it the first? Hell, out here she's old enough to be a grandma...

I really don't think a 17 year old getting pregnant is that catastrophic, nor does it warrant an abortion. Was she raped? Not as far as I know. Is she so young that the baby will suffer birth defects? No. Is there any expectance of a crippling disease or some other reason to terminate the baby? No. So how is she getting bit in the arse by her anti-abortion views?

Words "under God" added in 1954.

The words 'Under God' were added after a suggestion by the Knights of Columbus and it was their view that if the words were good enough for Lincoln to have used then in his Gettysburg Address... yada yada...

My view on this is that Palin is not too far off the path referring to Lincoln as a 'founding father' even though he was eighty years or so after the fact he was a founding father of the Republican Party (although the party today in no way resembles the original).

How is she being bit in the arse by her own views?

Ummm, by her family being an example for the world to see that "abstinence-only" sex-ed, which she supports, doesn't work.

So she chose to get preggers?  I seriously doubt that.   Come on, the politician parent stresses abstinence-only sex-ed and her kid gets pregnant.  You don't see the irony in that?  What if Bristol or her boyfriend happened to have a condom handy, don't you think there'd be one less pregnant minor in Alaska right now?

bsdaddict: define 'neo-con'

in a nutshell: big-government Republicanism.  It's what's replaced traditional conservatism after the GOP started courting the religious right over the smaller gov't, lower taxes crowd.
