That's all tied up in teen angst and rebellion though, isn't it?
Kids don't drink because they enjoy a fine Scotch or a delicious beer, do they? They do it because it's bad and they want to get chit-faced and get wild.
The effects of alcohol abuse are considerably easier to overlook, particularly since the effects will not be immediately evident.
Having scabs on your face/junk because you jumped in the sack with a slut (male or female, to be fair to both sexes) is just a
little closer to home.
It doesn't even have to be a promiscuous little blighter, it could be some unfortunate soul who picked up the virus as a young child..... Get it and you've still got it for life.
I am stunned by the utter lack of knowledge on the topic by my generation (20 - 25 years old) and I believe that had the risks and consequences of casual sex with multiple partners been explicitly outlined when we were younger some of the people I know might have escaped the situations they are in now.
I was lucky enough to learn all of this and find the woman I want to spend the rest of my life with early in life but I am the
only person I know that is in such a position. I do not see how providing teens with information on the infections and diseases they can contract could have a negative effect.
Pregnancy has a solution (regardless of weather or you agree with that).... some STIs don't. Different ball game with absolutely no solution.
