What's the deal here?  Also, her stance on teaching creation theory alongside evolution...why be so critical about that?  Would they attack a man with 5 kids the same way?

It's a big deal because it's the same as teaching the tooth fairy is responsible for leaving a dollar under your pillow in school. There is no scientific facts behind creationism, it's a religious belief that has no business in a public school system. On top of that it puts one small part of a specific religion ahead of all others.

Are you going to agree with having your kids sit through the teaching of the Koran? Scientology? Buddhism? What about the various American Indian religious beliefs? If they want to go over the "theory" of creationism is social studies as part a course then it's not that big of a deal assuming they give the other popular religions their fair time as well.

However trying to teach it as scientific fact is ludicrous because it's nothing more than a part of a religious belief. In short if you want bible study for your kids then go to church because that's where it belongs.

As for the media in the feeding frenzy over Palin.. well that's exactly what is going to happen when he picks some unknown that for the most part no one has heard of. It's the media's job to then start digging if they found nothing wrong right away then it would have likely just been a frenzy over "who is the woman".

However every time you turn around there is more dirt under the rug, so that causes the frenzy to keep growing and looking deeper..Because McCain didn't properly vet her.. the media is now doing it for him.

...I think I lost all respect for Wolf Blitzer when he tried to argue with Bill Bennett that Palin's daughter's pregnancy was a valid talking point because of the "nation's concern for teenage pregnancy"....

EXACTLY!  That exact incident, plus Campbell Bown afterwards, was my final straw.  I'm giving up on all cable 'news' networks.

I even went so far as to use those two incidents and sent an email to CNN stating I wasn't watching anymore.  I'm actually amazed that I was so p.o.'d right then that I actually put my thoughts into words and let them know.

This woman scares them so they dig for whatever they can find and make mountains out of mole hills.

Pathetic, but a the same time predictable and welcome because they are showing what they are really made of.

Like you right wingers haven't been attacking Obama non stop.. get real the only scary thing is the fact that I didn't think it was possible to find a pair worse that Bush/Cheney. With McCain/Palin I think the Republicans managed to find a pair that could screw this country up even more than the last. Talk about scary, yea that's scary.

What do we have, 6, 7 threads about Palin? If she's such a great pick you have to wonder why all the effort defending her.

Back to the original topic:
If this were chess, McCain has Obama in Check.

If you count putting his queen in the middle of the board almost undefended to check the King, than yes, McCain has Obama in check.

Ugh, please don't keep this Chess analogy going; I'm having a hard time supressing my inner nerd.

I used to watch CNN because it seemed to be less biased than MSNBC but lately they are just as bad.  I think I lost all respect for Wolf Blitzer when he tried to argue with Bill Bennett that Palin's daughter's pregnancy was a valid talking point because of the "nation's concern for teenage pregnancy".  When before 08/31 did any American or any poll indicate that teenage pregnancy was a major concern of the US voter?  Even Larry King devoted a half hour to the subject the other night.  Pathetic.

Story #3 on cnn.com right now is "High-profile teen pregnancies in spotlight".  Really?  The media PUTS it in the spotlight because it is good for ratings.  Nothing more.
This doesn't surprise me. You've always been a level-headed individual the years I've known you on the BBS. It is apparent that more and more folks, regardless of political affiliation, are getting turned off by bias media (regardless of political lean).

I see more threads over the internet attacking her, than those praising her. One has to wonder, why all the effort of attacking her? Must be a credible threat me thinks. :)

Well, lets face it then. The choices from these two parties in this years election still suck, even after each respective VP selection.

*Sigh*.

myelo.. this seems odd to me..  you are saying that there are 6,7 threads about Palin and that it somehow means we have to defend her.

We are happy as can be with her.. it seems just the reverse to us.. it seems that the metrosexual socialists are so scared that they have to attack her with some of the silliest stuff I have ever seen.

I think that she is the new superstar.. that she just eliminated osamabama on "america sings" or some such crap... like she was more glitzy and everyone just forgot about the messiah.

I think the worship of the messiah has run it's course.. he is boring now.. we are moving on to the one in the light... too bad.... soooo sad....

You want to build a cult of personality but you get upset when the other party trumps you?

Talk about being hoisted on your own petard...

and by a woman no less!

agreed rip!

Why can't a fiscally conservative and socially liberal party get a chance?  I hate having to choose between fiscally responsible (+) and socially conservative (-) or bigger govt (-) and social liberalism (+)!

All the "smears" your seeing about her only remind me of all the ones perpetuated about Obama on this board.

You've already picked your horse for the race but don't mind spending all your time bad mouthing other's choices.

CNN is huge behind Obama ... it became quite evident to me last night switching between CNN and Fox News watching the "after" convention dialogs.

CNN is so far slanted toward the Obama camp that it is almost sickening to watch ... which I won't anymore.

Sorry, CNN transferred from Clinton News Network to ONN, Obama News Network. :P
