Yes.

Teachers who get a performance based pay-raise are always in favor of that sort of program no matter how opposed to it they were before...big surprise, eh?  To be fair, some teachers are paid too much; some don't deserve the job.  A little bit more $ for teachers and less money for administrative staff would go a long way toward pushing out the mediocrity.

Some years ago I had a job where I would go to a school district central office to handle paperwork for after-school scholastic programs.  The schools themselves were, eh...let's not go there.  The district office was a 4-story glass monolith of endless offices and people with bloated job titles like "facilities-use technician."  Pathetic.

Good Points indeed.....Admin Staff I would agree are usually overpaid....

Teahcers who can get performance raises deserve what they can make...no problems there either....

Teachers who don't perform shouldn't be teaching....

If you don't perform...you may be looking for a job right? I know most are like that anyway.

Which leads me back to teachers make fine money.....

If school was a year round deal...with say Xmas and Thanksgiving vacations...throw in a spring break...that would amount to like 3 - 4 weeks vacation a year....Keep the kids in school 8 hours a day. Take time to TEACH instead of running em in and out like a cattle call. Just my opinion...means nadda.

Schools here have uniforms. They have however been neutered in their ability to produce effective members of the community by this ridiculous notion that nobody can be considered above or below average or feeling might get hurt.
My Sisters are teacher (one is also a security guard, something which no doubt comes in handy :lol )
For the most part teachers do what they can but they've been hamstrung by the notion of political correctness and litigation. To really be effective they need the ability to set a curriculum and the support to help those that need it. They need the School boards to back them up if Johnny is failing and not be pressured to "pass them through or it will make us look bad". The schools need to enforce a code of discipline without fear of legal challenges from parents of kids who do not wish to obey the rules.
To sum it up I will take a quote from a prominent individual in the Australian community. "Harden the f.... up!"

More time in class doesn't necessarily equal better educations.

Those that can, do.
Those that can`t, teach.
An old saying, but one way too close to the truth here.
There lies the problem with education in this country.

I'd say its more like:

The people we want educating the next generation are skilled enough to make way more money doing something else.  It's not can do, and can't do so teach.  It's the $.

Also, I've known some really great teachers in my life.  Where does everyone get off generalizing the issue and declaring them all horrible?

A center of education should be shielded of religious and political endoctrination. The teachers definitly are not allowed to spill their propaganda to young spongy minds. There's no freedom of speech in school, this tee shirt is as provocative as one that would say "I hate gays", or "Hitler for president".

That father should be ashamed of himself.  Most eleven year old kids don't have enough information to make an informed political decision.  He's just regurgitating what his father has told him.

If the father wants to make a political statement then he should wear the shirt to work, nothing wrong with that.  Using your child to make a statement and distract him from just being a normal kid is pathetic.
you are correct sir

Neither does less.

We could just agree that different amounts of class time are needed by different students?
