F4U wing departure. (For Pyro)
« on: January 17, 2000, 02:20:00 AM »
Hi there!

I fly the F4U 99% of my sorties, and i love the .46 ver FM of it. But sometimes when i enter an dive my wings djust falls off without warning   you dont get the "structural damage stress sound" they djust come off without warning, this usually happens when i got an drop tank on, i have not noticed this when i do not have the drop tank.

Anyone else noticed this? I will start recording my sorties so i can show you all what i mean hopefully.

Regards.

Ok its happened again, this time i was at aprox 17k diving on an con at 310 mph, i pull up slightly (dont even get an hint of blackout, or structural stress warnin) and there goes the left wing and there goes the right one, i end up using my rudders getting back to base. . .

Really strange, ANYONE ELSE SEEN THIS HAPPEN????

P.S Oh almost forgot, i had no drop tanks this time. . .

We just put out a release, but I'll check into it for the next one.

Maniac,

Flying offline, I've had this happen.  With a level, non-blackout pull I was able to shed both outer wing sections.  Interestingly enough, not only can you still fly in this configuration, it is possible to land and take off using the rudder for directional/roll control.
