Valid point.
However, Nhancer does nothing but make settings for you. If you can figure out what those settings need to be, you do not need Nhancer. My biggest beef with it (as Chalenge points out) is it adds yet another process (as if 30 some-odd is not enough!!!) to your system doing something you can do yourself.
I will grant you that Nhancer is an excellent way to learn what Antialiasing, Anisotropic filter, and all that other "Greek" means. I loaded it up, used it for research and then uninstalled it once I got my "video legs."
Sorry Flotsom, I shouldn't have come across so negative in my first post. Nhancer certainly plays a role but you should work to shed the "training wheels" before you consider your video tweaking complete.
and i sir return your valid point!!
i have installed the 178 update for nvidia so i have had to uninstall nhancer.
one thing that nhancer did give me the capability of doing was to edit the preset profiles of nvidia in a manner that you cannot do without it. but now it is time to move into the big boys world of video tunning and figure out how to get the most out of my video card without the training wheels.
in the last 24 hours or so i have managed to lock up my compuetr and have to do a system restore at the least 5 times. not all due to nvidia, but mostly. i have reached a conclussion, they should call it error by trial instead of trail and error!!!!!!!!!!
but i think i have made some headway. course i now have to re-install Aces High to find out. (corrupted the video files.......oops!)
as far as the number of services running goes.......i am begining to believe that this is more myth than perfomance aid. i had my process count down to 10!!!!! 10 !!!!!!!!!! and i was still having problems!!
what i have concluded is that what may be a much better way of doing things is to allow the programs to turn on normally then exit the program (not send to system tray, but exit and end it) by using a program such as enditall2, then use a memory recovery tool such as casheman to recover memory from your ram cashe ect. then you remove those srvhost without leaving the empty shell still pinging the cpu looking for the proigram. like i said this MAY be an alternative route to go. if it seams to be working i will post it and let people know the settings and the program i use.
i thank you all for your advice and the loan of your wisdom.
take care and happy tunning
