Hey guys,
Thanks for all the kind words. Reschke, please do look me up when you are in the area (you can find my contact info via my profile or give me a call at my office at the church: 910-630-1215).
As for sticking around and posting, I really don't want to make trouble for the mods. Nilsen, let me try to explain as best I can. I know that for most people, religion is at best a peripheral interest and something that one does once in awhile, but not the center of their lives. So asking the average individual not to discuss religion is like asking someone who fishes, not to discuss fishing. For me Christianity, and more to the point, Christ is the center of my life, everything else is peripheral. It's the one thing that shapes and directs in one way or another, everything I do, say, and write. Let me try to make an analogy I hope you will understand - imagine asking the Dalai Lama to participate on a bulletin board, and then saying, you can discuss anything
except religion and politics. He couldn't do it, neither could I. Also, while I know many people are glad to discuss anything except their job, I love my job and my Boss, and my life and my job are absolutely intertwined, and discussing my job is out of bounds here. It would ultimately involve a level of self-censorship that would involve me having to pretend to be someone else.
Anyway, I can keep a non-religious conversation going as long as the conversation is narrowly focused on things like the technical details of AH planes, improvements in the game, etc. but around here the topics are going to touch on the issues of life, the universe, and everything, and I know I'm going to end up breaking the rules. I probably already have with the explanation I gave above.
Oh and BTW - RPM, the reason the bullets are whizzing past your head is because I can't actually hit a plane. Tests have proven that the only way this is possible is if you stand me next to it with a hammer. I just fly around bombing toolsheds and hoping for proxies.
Glad to see so many old O'Club hands flying and typing. I hope that someday, somehow, HTC will actually hold a con somewhere on the east coast and I'll be able to go or that I'll finally have a speaking engagement that takes me to that section of Texas at that time of the year. Hey, didn't they do an informal con in Scandanavia (I remember something about lots of Fins and blackmail quality pictures?) one year? NC is much closer by comparison and I'd bet we have quite a few NC pile-its (Skpg actually lives in the same city as me for instance). Ah well, just dreaming out loud. Anyway, see you in the unfriendly skies on Tuesday and Friday eves.
