It's only a matter of time now.  The rules are going to get another add on.

How?  What would you add to this?

Rule 6 - Posting pornographic or generally offensive text, images, links, etc. will not be tolerated. This includes attempts to bypass the profanity filter.

Easy.

"And girly pics are right out because of past abuses and the immense workload it puts on HTC staff to police up after the few users who insist on pressing the limits."

It's an easy rule addition, it wouldn't materially detract from the majority of the interesting content posted in this forum, and it would probably cut skuzzy's workload and stress level by quite a bit.  I'm suprised they haven't done it already.  There are plenty of other forums where pics of nekkid wimmen are ok, so again it's hard to expect HTC to put up with it for much longer.  Too many people either don't get it, or insist on forcing skuzzy to waste his time showing them yet again where the line is.

Welcome to the internet.

That doesn't mean crap here.  Seriously.  Never has, even back when the game was just "CK beta", advertised primarily by word of mouth on usenet.  It's a business and HT (and his partners/employees) have never tolerated any user/customer behavior that detracts from their core business by making the game environment look trashy or by wasting an enormous amount of employee resources.

That my friend, is the reality of this particular corner of the internet.  Check your assumptions at the door, because HTC has a business to run and it doesn't involve a forum full of scantily clad women.  Unlike many other internet businesses that revolve around social networking and forums, HTC doesn't make their money on advertising revenue driven by how many people visit their site.  They have another business model that doesn't include pandering to "the internet" to get page clicks.

Maybe the rules sticky should have a little philosophy blurb at the top, explaining this sort of thing...  It is highly relevant that HTC has considered shutting the forums down completely because they have tended to deviate from the business model over time.

The ones that get it don't push the limits, they understand what the limits are and why they are there. Those that don't get it either refuse to believe that their should be limits, or are just to stupid to understand what the limits are. Reminds me of the guy that suggested putting warnings in the thread titles, he is one of those that doesn't get it and probably never will.

Well your honor I hate to be the one to break the news to you, but this is a public forum without any membership fees or requirements thereby making it a "private" forum. So basically anyone can write any rule they want and post it,but the 1st ammendment runs this Board, not an individuals opinion. It's like putting up "Enter at your own risk" signs. They mean nothing. The owner is still responsible under the law.

I'm sure someone is going to say "If you don't like it then leave" but like I said, this is a "public" forum and I don't have to. Can you spell A.C.L.U.?
