Anaxogoras,

I looking at that list I doubt you are weighting speed anywhere near enough.

Yes, if the Spit16 were perked then you would see more N1Ks and La7s.

But I'm just looking at the performance data...  When looking at a well-rounded data set for all of the most important categories of aircraft performance, the Spit16 ranks with the perk rides, and the La-7 and N1K do not.  Numbers do not lie.

Here are results that are typical of the spreadsheet I'm working on.  No matter how I try to tweak the modifiers that increase or decrease the importance of different performance criteria, the Spit16 comes out on top because it only has a few weakness.  I could increase the importance of roll-rate to move the VIII down, but remember that would only move the 16 up. ;)  In this lineup ordinance capacity is weighted a little heavily, perhaps at the expense of level acceleration and roll rate (I was trying my best to move the XVI down but couldn't do it).

The CHog was perked in a world long before the LA7 and SpitXVI horde.  But I'd agree with a perk for those, as well as the Nikki.  Small perk.  Deal with it.  They're overflown and underperked.

When the CHog was perked, it was because it did cause a severe unbalance to the game play.  The La-7, Spitfire Mk XVI or even (can't even believe someone actually believes it needs to be perked, LMAO!) the N1K2 aren't even in the same league as the CHog was when it was perked.  Just because a lot fly a particular plane is absolutely no reason to perk a plane.

It is late(ish) war British, therefore it should be perked, hideously deformed with a modelling issue or both.  There is something seriously wrong currently that it is fine.

I personally think that the Spit 16 and LA-7 could use a light perk.  While I agree it's nice to have those rides for beginning players, to me it seems hypocritical to have them without perk.  The C-Hog and F4U-4 are perked and I consider it on an even keel with these aircraft (The F4U is even a more challenging aircraft to fly!).  People will often bring K/D ratio's into these discussions, but they are irrelevant in reality.  Every time someone asks what a good beginner plane is, in unison you hear "Spit 16" or "LA-7," grouped with the few people who say something like "P-40!"  These new players will die very, very often (except in rare cases) in their first few months of play skewing these aircraft's numbers.  I'm sure if someone wanted to do a study with an experienced pilot comparing all these aircraft we'd see some very different numbers.

The Spit 16 and LA-7 are the only 2 unperked aircraft that I get on my six and feel there is nothing I can do.  Granted, depending on the situation, the 109K4 can do the same.  It just seems extreme that when co-alt with one of these rides; you feel trapped, which as I'm sure everyone has experienced, really can take away the fun from the game temporarily.  While I'm sure someone out there knows the magic trick to dealing with these planes, and will undoubtedly say that it's my ACM is what needs work, most LW aircraft cannot compete with these aircraft at normal MA altitudes.

I can say that perking these aircraft would not be the end of the world for beginner players.  The Spit VIII or IX are no slouches by any means and I would consider them both great beginner aircraft that still presents a challenge to those that have been around a while.

I wouldn't say these aircraft ruin my $15, but it would be nice to see them perked.  It would actually be cool to see it tried out in one of the arena's at first as a test bed to see what happens.  Who knows, it might turn out pretty nice! :)

I don't have a problem with the Tempest because #1, its perked, and #2, you don't see them that often.

It may be there 14.95, but there 14.95 is ruining my 14.95

Your 14.95 is ruined because you dont know how to fly, and dont know how to fight a certain plane that is getting the better of you? That's silly. So you must have gone as far as you can with your flying ability. Are you offering lessons?

Spit 16's and LaLa's are generally easy kills.

Most that fly them have no clue really what they are doing, and those that DO know how to fly 'em are few and far between.

So generally when you see either of those rides you should thinking "easy kill" as opposed to "uh oh".

If you are having problems with them, it ain't the plane it's the pilot.  Head to the TA and grab a trainer and spend no less than 4 sessions with one of our wonderfull members of the Aces High Trainers Corps of at least one hour each.

After those four hours, and a bit of practice getting down what you learned, you will no longer be thinking "uh oh" and view those planes as the easy kills that they indeed are.

Why do people fly them so much? I can't stand the sight of one. It disgusts me that such a plane can exist in the world of AH. They are so Uber, that they change the tide of battle with just one in the area. The funny part is, they are usually flown by the noobs, but there are still some dweebs out there that fly these all the time! I will never fly that plane unless i absolutely have too, just because I feel dirty after I do. Its OK to fly them every once in a while, but to fly them every other sortie? Why do they do this anyway? Is it fun to know that you are in an Uber plane that nothing else can touch unless you REALLY screw up? I don't find it fun to fly in such a plane that is that easy to get kills.

Whine over  :P

spit is a bit easier to fly, yes. but it still requires its own skillset. if they're shooting you down, then fly one for a little while, and learn what it can and can't do. then go back to your prefered ride, and start killign em back.  :D

c hog is perked because of what, its cannons and its dive? even though all other american planes (except P38 and maybe a p59 [not sure about the 39, never fly them]) can dive with, or exceed its dive speed before fallin apart or compressing. if one thing gets a plane perked, as Gava said, the Spit 16 can hold its own in a perk world too. however, you perk the spit 16 youll see the nikki and la more...but those are easy kills unless they are in the right hands.

 :rofl :rofl
