2nd in the World and two World Records
« on: January 26, 2009, 01:57:00 PM »
As some of you may know we compete in Overclocking competitions worldwide.  We have set a new 2nd place World Record second to Kingpin (he is in Michigan) and two World Records for this video card ATM.  Notice the core speed of the E8600 and the voltage yes that is 6.3GHz.... yikes

Pretty insane, I guess thats one of those "doing it because I can" sort of things. I can't imagine any other reason to OC a CPU that much. Congrats none the less, but I'd imagine even with LN that has to destroy the CPU pretty quick.

Don't forget guys, TilDeath also builds systems and his prices are incredibly good compared to anything you'll get out there.

Tildeath just sent me pics of my machine, should be here this week.

This guy is top notch, as much as I proclaimed 'build it yourself' in the past, you'll never beat Rich/TilDeath's work nor his prices. Not to mention, he can finely tune/overclock the machine to run like a much better machine than what you originally put into the box.

Nah not really... it will cook if you screw up here is what the bench Brian and I work at looks like when doing the OC's

If you want to throttle the World Record, try coming up with a way to use Liquid Helium.   It is -270 Celsius (3 degrees and change above Absolute Zero).  Liquid Helium is tough to use because once opened, the Dewar will discharge within a day.   It is lighter than air and "boils" quicker than Nitrogen.

Liquid Nitrogen is around 196 degrees below Zero.

What's next? Antimatter?

Only OC that matters is one you can achieve using a cooling method that can run 24/7 reliably and cost effectively.

Pretty sure they use that stuff to cool the power lines on the Haydron Collider(sp), maybe if you stop by that way you could pick some up. :D

I used to deal with it when I worked at Pfizer.   A single 100L Dewar of Liquid Helium would cool their 4 gauss magnets better than 4, 300L dewars of Liquid Nitrogen.

You had to remove your wallet and the dewars were made of aluminum (entirely).   Even when off the magnets were strong enough to wipe your Credit Card swiper.

I filled Liquid Nitrogen dewars , changed any gas cylinder you can think of.   If they didn't shut the facility down, the Linde Gas sales rep., would have given me much things to tinker around with.

While oc records made with supercooled materials are entertaining and all they have little to no meaning to a regular user.

My scope of interest is strictly limited to what I can maintain at home at everyday basis and within a reasonable cost.
