History vs AH
« on: March 04, 2009, 08:50:08 PM »
I have not been able to find a historical account of low flying bombers slinging their loads into unsuspecting CV's. Lanc's, B24's, and B-26's, seen it happen several times in the MA but never read about it in RL. Is everyone ok with this tactic? Is this acceptable game play? I'm looking at all the time I could save by not grabbing alt to go CV hunting. Lots of players PO'd about it on vox but never see it discussed in here. Or has it been discussed to death already sometime in the past?

Oh, same plane that dropped those bombs, a B-24, did an Immelman and turned back towards base afterward. That's just wrong.  :confused:

Think of it this way;
None of the birds piloted in WWII were flown by this kid,

It's been discussed to death. Run a search and you could keep yourself busy with reading for a long time. It the type of game play that is killing the game in the main arenas. It's too bad too, this was such a fun game before. Too many people looking for short cuts. Why bother taking the time to learn how to get to a good alt, adjust the bomb site, and drop on a moving target, when all you have to do is dive in and drop your load after the nose passes over the ship.

Aces High General Discussion.
Far too many, if not most, people on this Board post just to say something opposed to posting when they have something to say.

In real life, when you died fighting, you died....

Do not equate any tactics used here with real life.  The consequences and risks are different.

I figured as much, so why hasn't it been addressed? Why not equate this to real life? The planes are modeled after real planes and we use combat proven dogfighting tactics used to defeat enemy planes. I agree there are a few things we need to 'fudge' for the sake of gameplay, (flight/drive time is one example) I've got no problem with that. Dive bombing in a Lanc, B-24, B-26 or B-17 takes away from the game and shouldn't be allowed to happen. It's only code, can't we just change a few lines?

I did run a search, must not have used the right words.

What has been the official corporate response to this complaint? Silence? Suck it up? Just curious.

Because this is a game, and there is more than one way to have fun. Its tolerated because the players allow it, and squad CO's encourage it. Anything to win the war  :rolleyes:

This game isn't about WWII. Its a game that just happens to use WWII "type" units to "steamroll" bases with the biggest horde of dweebs you can assemble there by getting the pre-requisite of bases to win the war and the 35 perk points you get with it. Then the map resets and they get to do it all over again.  :aok
