as for bonzo, you got to love him but really, theres more to it than beating the ***t out of a kit. your honours, may I present as my first piece of evidence: Since Ive Been Lovin You. you can imagine the engineers looking at each other, then at bonzo, and thinking "well i'm not going to be the one to tell him..." ;)

Odd...well my first choice would be Neil. Oddly you chose the second one to be Rev, which is my favorite band. :)

Indeed, Avenged Sevenfold is one of my favorite bands as well! I like the way they blend mainstream rock with metal and punk. They call themselves "Metalcore" I believe...

Yeah I think so. I had the chance to see them in concert Saturday night at the Utica Aud. but I couldn't get the money for tickets.

Do you mean the squeaky kick pedal?

not at all, i like the squeeks and clunks and fretbuzz if its that kind of session, its just that arrangement is so much about dynamics and bonzo didnt really do subtle.

always liked jim capaldi too, had the opportunity to hear him and steve winwood jamming a little once, that was pretty special

Buddy Rich for overall drumming.

For entertainment, and keeping me on my feet, Travis Barker.

I mean, damn dude, if you look at the way he moves his body when he drums, you're sometimes thinking "damn, how can you headbang, while playing the drums?? Ya know?"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RKQgDY0pZ68

Even though I hate rap, I just can't understand how the hell he can bang his head and what not while he's playing and stay on beat.

Here he is at some drum off.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eL0yEwyhYyY

I guess that's what makes him stand out? Idk

No one knows what the future may bring.

These are great threads, lots of opinions and theories.  Impossible to quantify as it is such a personal choice, much like asking "what is the best color?".  Although Dwight Schrute know's that color is black.  My personal favorites would be.

1. Nicko McBrain-Iron Maiden.   Unique style, looks like he is only hitting half the beats he is really hitting. Doesn't take himself too serious.  Amazing drummer.

2. Neil Pert-Rush.  He is Neil Pert from Rush.

3. Peter Criss-Kiss.  Nothing amazing, but probably impossible to count the number of drummers he has inspired and influenced over the course of his career.  Solid drummer.

4. Alex Van Halen-Van Halen.  Amazing drummer with a style all his own.

5. Clive Burr- Iron Maiden (The early years).  Because what up and coming drummer of the late 80's/early 90's didn't want to master the opening moments from "Run to the hills"?   Also because I love Iron Maiden  :D

We can go around in circles here.   One person mentioned that Keith Moon's "timing stunk", this is laughable at best.   He not only "kept time with Entwhistle", he added fills.

Goto to YouTube and watch "A Quick One while he is away" from "Rock and Roll Circus".
