An Open Invitation

     I see all kinds of posts complaining about the "horrors" taking place in the DA and to some extent, the MA.  HO's, pics, poor skills, bad form, those distasteful noobs, the whole gamut.  Evidently many of you come to the DA, spend a half hour or so, leave in disgust and then post your complaints and suggestions on what us new guys ought to do, how we should behave, what we should fly and how we should fly them.   
     What I haven't observed is any of you coming to the DA and offering to help.  Why don't some of you Vet Sticks out there get together, spend a few hours a week or month in the DA and school us noobs.  Put on a clinic, show us your stuff and interact with us.  I think everyone would benefit from this and I personally would be honored to get to meet and fly with you guys.
     I know there are trainers (seems like precious few) and everyone should do their homework and read (I do!) but not everyone does.  Maybe if you pro's would invest a little time, it would break the ice, show some people the benefits of training and just overall help the game improve for everyone.
     Have some fun with it, form an "Uber Squadron" and capture the map, then when you have everyone's attention bring out your patience and experience to help us become worthy opponents and squad mates.
     So in the spirit of better gamemanship, I invite you, come to the DA and be a mentor or inspiration to us noobs.  The state the game is in, or will be in, is just as much in your hands as in ours.  Lead, follow or get out of the way.

I have tried that in the past on a small scale and it failed miserably.

Better yet, why don't some of you go into the TA during the nights the trainers are present and work with them? As the old saying goes, 'you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink'.

TA is open all day every day. I'm in there afternoons more days than not.

Want to learn some ACM, come into the TA and hook up with me or one of the other vets.
Leave your perk plane in the DA.

And once you have some ACM under your belt, venture off into the world of the Main Arena's.
I'd recomend Midwar for starters. No late war monsters, but plenty of good pilots to cut your teeth on.
Leave the attitude and ego at the door, and just fly.

I really don't care how other people fly in the DA, because most of the time I sedn many people back to the tower. Only thing that get's me upset is when the noobs have to bomb other airfeilds. Leave the bombers at the bomber fields, then I'm happy.

you don't know how many times vets go into the DA and attempt to help people out there with nothing but a nose in the wind. vets will not take well to noobs thinking they are gods gift to AH. all noobs get that way, i did at one point way back when. take the trainers advise and go to the TA and ask for some help with ACM and SA. also remember what he said LEAVE THE ATTIUDE AT THE DOOR

90% of the time I try to help a new person I get an attitude shot back my way... I am not speaking to all the new people ,but most in general are super egos right out of the cereal box

The real context is that the DA used to have very few people not check6-ing you before engaging, most players would respect 1:1s, etc.  This was years ago, admittedly, but it was better and it lasted for years.  So it's not like it was some fluke.

     What I haven't observed is any of you coming to the DA and offering to help. 

It's happened, but tbh 3/4 the time I've done it, no one's really interested. Drilling something to "good enough", not even to perfection, just doesn't seem to be as fun to most of the guys in the DA, as picking in tempests and hording etc etc.

I don't think the DA is the place to train.  I think it is the right place to pratice what you may have learned in the TA.  The DA is a great place to pratice wing tactics with your wingman.  A good place to develop SA.    As for problems with other pilots.  I don't bother with the politics of channel 200 chat text .  My own experience is that I found just about everyone in the DA there to have fun.

I agree that the DA isn't the place to train, I just thought maybe it could be the place to let the egotistical one's see the need to train.  I for one thank you all for the efforts you have given and believe it a shame that the majority passed on a great opportunity.  Trust me, I for one will be in the TA and the attitude will be appropriately humble.  Salute all, will see you in the MA when I feel I can contribute.

The DA used to be a place to get trained by experienced pilots, once a newb had learned how to turn his engine on in the TA.  Best place to learn the basics and get some schooling on ACM was, and is, the TA.  But the DA was where you got lots of different training and advice from many good pilots, in a very short time.  Call it, hands-on practical instruction.  It was friendly, well-ordered and stress-free for the most part.  If you set up a 1v1 fight, most wouldn't interfere except for the occasional newb, and they rarily did it twice.

Last time I was there and got in a situation where someone wanted to learn something from me, we couldn't do it a Furball Island.  No privacy, even out on the edges.  So we went to a couple of facing bases.  Guess what?  Three yahoos must have seen us on radar, took up from one base and came screaming in.  Even after we told them this was a private fight, they wouldn't leave us alone.  Fortunately, a few minutes later my squad arrived for our planned practise, which was why I was there in the first place, and toasted the little f*rts.  They vanished into the ground rather quickly, and I guess, crawled back to Furball kindergarten after that.

The DA is just no longer conducive to helping anyone out on a regular basis anymore.
