Yes.

And add damaged rudder

Because the thing would eventually run aground somewhere, and not allowed by coad, a damage rudder will render the fleet's task group movement unavailable until the CV itself was sunk OR REPAIRED.  In effect, the group will continue on the course set prior to the damage.

HMMM pt boat with supply's for damaged CV could bring a whole new concept for PT boats.

Indeed it would be.

If you are going to do this, then the total amount of ord to actually kill the CV needs to be increased, perhaps doubled.

First 8K cripples rather than sinks the CV.  It lists, has deck fires, whatever -- basically halts flight operations.  Another 8K damage from that point to sink and start the clock on the respawn.

The auto-repair (representing damage control personnel) may restore flight operations before the next wave of enemy can sink the CV (shades of Yorktown at Midway).

But without increasing the amount of damage to actually sink the CV, then all you are asking is for CV battles to be even shorter than they tend to be today, which would not be good for gameplay IMO.

OK  here is a thought, make the CV just like an airfield on damage. Think of the convoy ships as targets of opportunity.

1 ship is troops

1 ship is ords

1 ship is vehicles

and so on and so forth that way you cant take a base with damaged CV just because its there. But the downed ships respawn just like the hangers do on landbased fields.

BUT!!! if the CV and the cruiser gets sunk then u are able to use the remaining ships to try and get a base.

Indeed it would be, even a concept not historically correct!

Add bomb holes in the wooden deck. Make the CV unable to launch planes for 10 mins. at least. Major damage return to port for repair. Stop the auto repair. When CV and battleship / Heavy Cruiser are down eliminate the LVT launch. Destroyers shouldn't be able to launch LVT's.

Would take to long to get it back to port.  Takes about 30-40 mins to travel a sector.

yea, plus you cant (anymore) damage a runway with bomb craters, so damaging a flight deck with them would be a little silly.

^^ Both of these responses are a little bit nonsense. They need to add the bomb crater damage to the airfield also. This game is really turning from a simulation game to pure arcade style. That's what's sad about this simulation game.

So someone can come in with and La7, drop two 50 kg bombs and shut down a whole small airfield? Sounds like fun!

way back, driving through bomb craters at more than say 30kts would result in landing gear damage..

so no, a LA7 could not shut down an airfield..  the pilots would just have to *GASP!* turn off auto takeoff and avoid the craters..  but such a thing is ludicrous..... having to manually get your aircraft into the air.. crazy talk that is!
