Indestructable Tank
« on: May 14, 2009, 01:42:05 PM »
Last night, rtb after a sorte I noticed when coming in to land a tank at the side of the fields shore battery having pot shots in to the air field.  So I upped a Panza and hid behind a hanger with clear view of this tanks turret, now I cant be 100% on what tank it, was but it was either a Tiger or a Panza going by the desert camo they both have.
Now after 2 shots I find my range and with my 3rd I hit it, 4th hit it again, hmm I thought must be a Tiger and just to make sure I check my ammo, fine I'm using AP so I hit him again and again....NOTHING no smoke.  Then he locates me and starts firing on me falling short, too long or hitting the hanger I'm hid behind all the while I'm hitting him round after round and still nothing!!  Two more guys join in on my quest to kill this guy in this super Indestructable Tank. I mention this over the range vox what was going on, only to get a reply back saying that 1 guys had hit it over 20 times the other 6-7 times getting more and more frustrated as to why he wont blow up?
Then someone in a plane drops an egg on him and BOOM he`s dead and I get the assist. So lets say that I put 30 rounds into him, that's a total of 56-7 rounds. Someone said that he may have had supplies with him and probably was regenerating himself every time he was hit. So my question is can this be possible? Even being hit over 50 times?
I did tune into this guy and asked if he had lots and lots of supplies but he did not respond.
Any views on this?

At long ranges its possible for you to mistake the deflected round sprite with a hit sprite and that would be why you got an assist. At long ranges the only real way to kill a tiger is to hit it on top of the turret as almost everything else will bounce off.

I've went Tiger vs Tiger and hit guys in the butt repeatedly  10-20 times and nothing, no deflection shots either. Then he turned around and 1-shotted me.

The back of the turret on a tiger is a soft spot as well.

That seems to be happening here alot lately. Had a M3 take 4 shots from M4 at close range and he still managed to get troops out. This I would guess has something to do with connection issues. But then again that is me.

The Panzer has become very weak at taking down other tanks. Your shots will bounce off if hitting the body. Aim for the turret. Even on other panzers if your shots are low they won't penetrate. Up an M-4 when you can.

Tonight I was in a T34 shooting at another T34. I hit it bout 4-5 times in the side didn't do anything. He shoots me once in my front armor and kills me. I also can't see my round hit the ground anymore.  I been hearing alot the past couple of weeks about the gv's having problems.

My Tiger tonight hit multiple Whirble's multiple times only smoking them. Killed  one out of 6 with the help of a b25.

Same for pretty much everything I hit (SHERMAN, M3,and T34 especially)

I also had multiple ricochetts
The Panzer as always died fast.

I need to start running film more often.  I hit a M3 in the tracks 8 (yes, EIGHT) times with a Panzer a couple of weeks ago, every shot at less than 500 yrds.  He got away  :furious

Yet two nights ago I one-shotted a Tiger with a Panzer from 2500 yrds.  Turned around and hit a T34/85 10 times at ~1000 yrds and didn't kill it.

The damage model seems really fubarred lately.

Im no software developer, but I wouldnt expect GV's to perform flawlessly within a game engine written to be a flight sim.

Same type of thing happen to me as well and i have film hit tiger with HVAP from 50 yards went right thru to dirt after Tiger was tracked could not kill with AP or HVAP then I got picked by another gv, came back Tiger still tracked hit more times nothing...he finnally got supps. Came back in a Panzer and finally killed him with 2 shots to the side at 400.

again this is why GV'ing is fun but not very consistant,I just take for what its worth a break from the hoard.

Ill get film up sometime
