Wish for a CiC Resource
« on: July 21, 2009, 03:04:32 PM »
I don't think there is an easy way to maintain this CiC "resource", but I'd being willing to help....

Would love to see a table that tracks, let's say over the last 6-9 frames, what missions a squadron was assigned from the following three choices.  Bomber/Attack/Fighter.  I think it would help the CiCs keep an even spread.  I for one don't enjoy bomber sorties, but am quite willing to do my share as a team effort to fly those missions for the greater good of the FSO.  But I also think that "duty" should be equally spread amongst all squads.  But it can be a time consuming thing for each CiC every week to scour back through the logs to see who did what over the last few weeks.  Something I think frequently( not always though) doesn't happen, but should.

Consider it just a wish and looking for a good idea. <S>

I think that this would be a good tool also.   Maybe use an updatable page on the Wiki, or something like that.

I agree it would be handy for a CiC to have something like that, but keeping it current would have to be up to the squads.

In the meantime..
When the objectives have been sent to the CiCs for that frame, just send a note to the CiC specifying what your squad has flown the previous few assignments and what your preferences are.

I know that when I do CiC duties, I am grateful to have COs indicate what they want.  It's only when more squads ask for certain type of A/C than you can allow that that becomes a problem.

And I would hope that CiCs do honor the requests made by COs whenever possible.

I like the AHwiki idea.  :aok

How about something like this?

http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/wiki/index.php/FSO_Squadron_missions

I haven't finished filling in all the data yet, but ya can get the idea.  Also it may be difficult to tell the difference from the logs between an attack sortie gone wrong and a fighter sortie.  So some attacks may get listed as fighter by accident.

Is it worth continuing and keeping up to date?

Nice Bug! I think some would use it. Not all, but certainly some.

Have lots of irons in the fire. Sorry I have not jumped on this, but I think it is a good idea and one that should be engaged.

Oh let me add one thing.

You need (IMHO) a way to show a squad that has flown both Fighters and Bombers in one frame. For example in Frames 2 and we will again in Frame 3 my squad was assigned 10 to be in SBD's and the rest in fighters. We have been around 20 for a while so it breaks down to about 1/2 in Fighters and 1/2 in Bombers.

I know my squad is not the only one who gets assigned 1/2 and 1/2 roles like that.

Anyway food for thought. :)

I used to keep a running tab when I did the CiC stints for my squad. Included high/low attendance ratings just in case I had a crucial mission in mind for a squad.
Noted things I read on the board in AARs and complaints to try and make up for when a squad gets the shaft in a previous frame due to setup or orders not working as expected.
Proved to be too labor intensive for what I got out of it. For one thing I always had more intel for squads that flew the same side as mine in the last 3 or 6 frames.

Would be nice to have an objective way to keep track of such things.
