I think maybe youre jumping the gun....

any discussion about perking the spitix in the CT is FOR the CT.
at one point i thought the spitIX at 10 perks and the 190a5 at 5 perks was fair.
Then they both became available.are you sure they meant perk the spitix in MA too?

One could make an argument that
this Spit IX should be perked.  If the Spit IX varients were properly modeled the LF IX would give 190s a headache and the HF IX would give the 109s fits.

S!

In my opinion anyone who does a decent job of flying a 51D, G10 or D9 can make mincemeat out of this Spit IX.  At whatever altitude.

A G2 is a good match, same with the A5.

But if ya wanna turn with me when I'm in one...  Well  :)

And if ya get under me and you don't have a big E advantage...  Well   :)

All I can say is GOOD LUCK!

Getting under one is not THAT big a deal- you just have to keep going down.  If I dive below a Spit thats really moving, I just keep going, nothing to it.

I gotta say that the Spit is a very easy plane to fly. And extremely easy to kill in. And not that hard to survive in.

In the CT there was a number issue so I switched to the allied side to fly spits vs the dreaded evil Nazi scum. Met Saw and Hazed and another 109. The first 109 went down very quickly; Hazed and saw I needed some help with. Once I had the speed up to the same as their A5's, in the co alt fight they had no chance. They couldn't really run: if they put the nose down I'd have blasted them - not that they dinnae try to get some separation.

Fly it like you would the G2 or G6 and it's a very competent and lethal plane. its good turning bility tempts one into turning a wee bit too much though  :)

StSanta,

Yes, but replace those fighters with 1944 fighters.

I flew it in the MA tonight agianst lots of P-51s, a bunch of La-7s, a few Typhoons and an F4U.  They just come in and keep on going.  Spit can't get the co-e.  When its up against fighters that are 40 to 60 mph faster, and those fighters fly to their strength, the Spit is SOL.

Karnak,

Only if your are low, and against La-7. I think a Spit can disengage by climbing from a Pony and and a Typhoon, not to mention that is very difficult for the fast planes to get a good firing solution on a Spit without risking a snapshot (remember Hispanos).

Spit at 25k and over is deadly for any other plane, if they don't treat her with extreme respect.

Spits are not so good in a Many vs. Many environment. 1 vs. 1 is a different story.

Just my oppinion.  :)

Cheers,

Pepe
