A DXDIAG output would be helpful.

Are you talking about the game just freezing and not coming back to life?  If so, I have the same problem and would like to post my dxdiag in a few hours as well...

I know I know. Im not beefing about it yet.Thats why I didnt post the dxdiag.I wanted to update everything and see if that helped.
Here ya go and btw,it runs flawlessly in Vista for me.I took your advice and followed your yellow brick road of directions on what to turn off in Vista.  And Im talking having to reboot the computer lock up.

Can I assume you are running the game in "Windows 98/Windows ME" compatibility mode?  Do not assume that setting was retained after a patch.

It seems I am having the same problem.  Skuzzy, I have emailed you my dxdiag, whenever you get a chance.  I am also not understanding what the "compatibility mode" question means (if it applies to me as well).

Thanks,

I didnt have any issues in the beta.I was really impressed with that.Other than the self shadow,I could max it out. Im sure this will turn out to just be a driver issue. One that I plan to fix today. The vista boot runs fine, but the vox is to low from my end and I cant find any boost like xp has.

Use the Vista audio controls in your control panel...audio devices...should have a master volume control there.

Update your sound card drivers...not sure if it is directx 9.0c compatible but you can try.

Skuzzy was wanting you to try right clicking on the game executable shortcut on your desktop and click on "run as"...should be an option for "Win98" in there.

You could try to drop your video card resolution a couple of notches so you're not maxed out...that uses a lot of the GPU resources...go into the game and drop your textures to 512. In tower uncheck everything and see what happens. If you don't get any lockups...go back in tower and turn on detailed terrain and try again...repeat for each option until you're sure you don't get any lockups...if you want to use the 1024 textures, make sure you download and install the newest hi res pack...then start over with nothing checked in the display options while in tower...

Last note...this is assuming you don't have the game installed under C:\Program Files

Hang in there.

I'm using an NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX+, so I don't think that's me, but I just figured I had a similar problem, so I'd toss it in to an old thread instead of making my own.

It's a sporadic nuisance (I've had it happen maybe 3 times in 10+/- hours) so very low priority for me, but I figured I'd pass along the information in case someone already found a fix.  I can deal with it until the problem's fixed for guys having a worse time.
