I think I got it.

Do you have an antivirus program running?  I got that spinning clipboard when I left Avast running in the background.

If I killed the services (stop on-access protection), and killed most of my systray things, it ran stable as all hell.

Only thing I have running is TrackIR, and AH2.

Did all my tests with system as clean as possible, no firewall, no anti-vir

Did you say you've tried older drivers for the GPU?  When doing so did you make sure to delete the installed drivers before installing others?  Have you tried running a driver cleaner before installing different drivers?

I used the stock drivers first that came with the card, then removed them, ran driver cleaner, installed newest.

I think everyone can understand, that I'm getting a bit tired of all this stuff.

If the just the game wouldn't lock-up would compatibility mode - everything would be fine, because apart form that, it runs like charm ;)

Sorry to hear that lusche... hope you get that sorted out soon. Those little programs that optimize your ram and all seem to work well. Might try one of them.

My machine has no stutters on the new patch. Everything smooth as silk now and great visuals. Radeon HD4850 512

<- deeply frustrated after 5 patches...  :(

I forgot to ask... just how "deeply frustrated" can a snail be?  I'd think at their slow rate of movement they'd be pretty adept at patience.   ;)

Shuffler and Lusche.
First i have dual 4850s, can only run one of them...but game looks great and I never had stutters.
SO maybe it's not a gpu issue.  If I run crossfire my frame rate is cut by two thirds.

But when I run a single 4850 the game looks and plays great.  So Shuffler since I have had no stutters
and we both have the same vidcard the problem just might be outside the Vid Card.

How about sound?  Drivers?  what card?  If not are you like me running no sound card and using a USB headset?

Have you tried turning down sound acceleration in Dxdiag?

I can't have CCC in the toolbar.  In other words the only thing I can do to maximize FR is insure that CCC isn't running.
ATI Tray tools I can't use.  I get the Blue Screen of death with a windows error message.

Just some random thoughts.  I randomly think......or is it rarely?

I had the same thoughts. SB Live! here.
So I used AH stock sounds to avoid any sound pack issues. Used old drivers first, then removed them and used newest ones. The I tried different acceleration settings.
Made no difference. Still the same stutters in compatibility mode

Im getting lock-ups like crazy since Ive had the game installed too. Runs better than 2.13 but when it locks, it locks hard.  Usually once every other sortie.

Do you have onboard sound?  You might want to try that out just to eliminate your sound card as a potential issue.

Are you using a headset?  Is it plugged into the soundcard or is it USB?

Ordinary headset, no usb. I have onboard, but didnt used it, as it worked fine in 2.13, and 2.14 when not in compatibility mode.

I'm just waiting right now. I think HiTech is on the problem again :)

Oh... Pyro just told me HiTech was working on a problem. I assumed he was talking about Aces High. Didn't know he meant his handicap  :furious
