So in the WWI arena...
« on: October 21, 2009, 02:04:37 PM »
...will there be range/channel voice coms? Or will we be accurately simulating no-radios environment? :devil
"Crikey, sir. I'm looking forward to today. Up diddly up, down diddly down, whoops, poop, twiddly dee - decent scrap with the fiendish Red Baron - bit of a jolly old crash landing behind enemy lines - capture, torture, escape, and then back home in time for tea and medals."

Haha! They could model animated pilots in the planes so the arms can move.  :D

Back in the days of dial-up connex   :old: we had no vox (R/T), just typed chat (W/T). Leave the new WWI the same.

Only trouble is, most folks will download and use a vox facility: mine's GSC  :devil.

Vox or not, we'd still know who the squeakers are.  :D

I'm actually interested as to what HTC will do with this now. I haven't thought about this yet!

That is a very good point. I think HTC should just give us vox

The question is:

How to simulate hand signals?

Using dot commands is very time intensive. Using keystrokes could use up alot of keys on the keyboard and still take a good deal of time to look for keys. Neither of these are nearly as efficient as hand signals would be, where you just think how to move your arm and move it that way.

I really think that giving us vox is the easiest and best answer to this question.  Really how much would it change things anyway.

Oh wait a minute maybe we can get some uber camera and software to see and recognize how we are moving our arms in RL and have it interpret the movements and mimic it in the game.

There are going to be alot of keys unused in WWI planes, because the functions just didn't exist then...
Simple handsignals system would be best in the air.. Using the unneeded keys... No in air 2way radio is a major part of the WWI scenes character!

Allow full coms on the ground, but when ya start rollin, handsigs only... Until ya stop again!!!
Players will adapt, they always do.... It'll be part of the WWI experience!!!   Enjoy it!!!
