the Yakovlev colors: The Yak-9 has not any number at fuselage or rudder, but such number were usual in Soviet military air services
                                  [VVS, PVO, DBA(ADD), fleets].
 And it would be nice to paint a nose of one the Yak's (the Yak-9T is better, an opponent will see the danger while head on attempt :-)
                                     for example to red color.

Yakov 9,U,T has been used in late time of war
as well as LA5FN,LA7... but there was first prototype in 41
  ;)

It seems a shame to hanker after an AC that had only 285 odd built and those that saw service, saw it litterally (s)days before the war ended. I s'pose the triple cannon is atractive (37 + 2x b20) but the Yak 3 would be far more representative of the latter war conflict.

Also the Yak 3 in Normandie Nieman colours would be appropriate.

Tilt, I believe the "want" for the Yak-9UT has to do with the fact that its would be one of the simplest varients, in AH. In other words take the least time to produce and implement into the game.

Many people like the Yak-9U but due to its anemic armament, its not a truely viable aircraft in the MA. Small clip and no effective snapshot.

True there were only around 300 -UT's, but I can point to several other aircraft/armament options that are common in AH that have similar production levels.

I haven't looked the numbers up lately, but I thought there were more Yak-9U's than there were Yak-3's ?

Regardless, its just an aircraft that I know I would like to fly in AH  :) Plus it would be very easy to do

First we need a standard Yak-9D to fill in the missing '43-'44 Soviet Fighter planeset.  After that, need the Yak-3 as the Soviet Perk.  Then some early war planes, the best of that period was the Yak-1, but the Lagg-3 might be a better choice so we get more variety in design bureau types.  Maybe even a Mig-3, although it was a pig in handling, it had a good high alt. performance for its time.

After all that, then bring in the Yak9UT.

Why would the Yak-3 be a perk?! Overall, it really isn't any better than the Yak-9U.

Juzz, He's probably thinking of the Yak-3 with the VK107 that did 448mph, instead of the much much more common Yak-3 with the 105 engine in it.
