Windows 7 64 Bit
« on: November 17, 2009, 04:16:04 PM »
I have a new dell running windows 7 pro and 64 bit. I can not get the program to work. As soon as I try to run it there I get a window saying that the exe file has stopped working. I have tried everything from running as admin to changing the compatiblitys all the way back to Win 98. Still the same error. Anyone else running into this?

Not running a Dell, but yes I'm running Windows 7 64-bit, and the game is working fine.

Have you ensured that you have the latest and greatest 64-bit drivers for your video card, sound, and so forth?

A DXDIAG output would go a long way in helping with this.

Hey thanks for the quick responses guys. I got it working but it was the most stupidist thing I have ever heard. I didn't have speakers plugged in. I did that and blamo runs like a champ. Skuzzy that's one for the books :)

You have got to be kidding me.  Windows 7 disables the sound card if the speakers are not plugged in?

Maybe they are USB speakers.  When I was using Win7RC that didn't happen for me.. but then again who knows maybe the onboard sound hardware senses that... <shrug>

no mine didnt have drivers installed for my sound card, but that was on xp, when I installed windows 7, it automatically installed all the drivers for everything i had on my system, sound card, video card, etc.  I had installed win7 on a brand new hd, easiest install I ever did. about 30-45 min :)

In Windows:

Click on Start--> Run--> Type in DXDiag --> Click on 'Save Information'--> Save it to your Desktop

Then double click on the DxDiag.txt file, copy and then paste it on your reply post to this thread.

shppr01, are you getting the Windows error message when you try to start the game, or are you getting to the main splash screen with the clipboard and then crashing when you select an option from the clipboard?

Your computer has a nice CPU, good amount of ystem RAM, but only a $2 video chip in the Intel video chip.  It also only has 32MB of dedicated RAM, which it steals from the main system RAM.

Im actually getting the message about 5 minutes into the game. I can get to the ta and start to configure my controllers and then it crashes. I have configured about five times so far  :uhoh.
What do i ned to get ? i dont think this system is upgradeable due to the fact that its a mid tower and came with the software loaded Which means no disks.
