I have flown one of the ones built down where I live, they fly like a dream.  Blind as a bat on take off and landing but a dream in the air.  The one I flew had an Allison, it was hard to start when it was hot.  Again with all russian aircraft no fuel.  It was fun to fly.

It will be great for the special events when we get some more of the early and mid war birds. This one will work, but please, please, please...the Ki-43, G4M. Also the Ki-44, the D4Y, and the Ki-84Ib  :pray

2ADoc, have you flown other WWII planes/replicas, too?  Any comparisons to share?

It would be a fine :salute to the Free French of the 'Normandie-Niemen' and would be a fine addition to the Soviet set. The Yak-3 was regarded as the best dogfighter the Soviets made during the war years. Include the TU-2 bomber and it would be hard to ever get out of Soviet skin.

Its become my favorite set in the game. :salute

Yes Bino, I have flown a few different WW2 planes.  I Personally like the Yak 3 better than the P-51.  The P-51 was designed for tall people, I fit better in the Yak and cold reach the rudder peddals better.  One thing to note is that the Yak did not have baffeled fuel tanks, if you are not aware of that is can get exciting.  The approach speed is higher on the Yak, and you cant see as well on final but you just time you base and final, so that you are in a turn until you are almost on the ground.  I also found that it is harder to,"Hot Start" the Yak, but that like anything is just getting used to it.  One of the things I like most about the Yak 3 is the fact that you can get into them cheaper than a P-51.  Some people swear by the P-51, dont get me wrong it is fun but I just perfer that Yak.

The 3P model was produced very late war.  Started production in April 1945.  It's borderline on whether it meets HTC's inclusion criteria.  Don't get me wrong, I would love to have it!
