Why is my plane slower
« on: January 04, 2010, 10:10:03 PM »
Other planes pull away from me ( slowly ).  we will have the same plane, same fuel and ammo load same ords.  no flaps.  I'll have the engine firewalled.  i'm running DSL, frame rate is 75. if in a formation i'll have to ask them to reduce their mani press alittle. anyone else run into this? :headscratch:

Is that axis calibrated?

If you have calibrated it and it still doesn't work correctly you then you might want to try the following?

I had a similar situation, the fix that worked for me was to install the flight control software for the CHPro stuff AND calibrate using their software FIRST!  Then calibrate in AH, then fly.

Don't need to do it every time just once cured it BUT if it seems to get out of calc I gotta do both in the same order.

For some reason it wouldn't calibrate correctly or fully for me after a AH patch and just using windows.

Thought it was probably more a system specific thing in my case.

Are you running with 'combat trim' enabled?  How about 'stall limiter'?

I'm guessing it is the combat trim enabled like skuzzy asks, I know that it happens to me also, but the pluses for me not having to play with the trim controls in a fight - and the plus letting guys like wrag pull ahead and get shot at first are way more important :)

I don't understand: how does combat trim slow you down?  I thought it was just a look up table that trimmed the plane automatically for changing air speed??

i think that the drag factor can increment a bit with ct on because every correction to the aircraft path seems  affected by a drag factor or because with ct on the aircraft tends to go up too much.

are the others on WEP and you on Militarypower?

are you using a Throttle ( ie...CH Pro Throttle or Sateik Throttle, etc...) ? or just using the keyboard?

a tip, if you are using a Throttle Device, while calibrating, try to leave just a notch or two short of being Wide Open & short of being no throttle..... this will cure any spiking you have at each end of movement for the throttle axis in question.....

hope this helps

We all were on WEP.  I'll find out if the recal fixed the problem on squad night.

CT wont slow you down. If CT was off and you manually trimmed your AC then your slow inputs and poor trimming will induce more drag than CT on.

The other thing that can cause a slight difference is a stick that is constantly spiking causing small changes in the fligh controls which would induce enough drag to cause an appearance of loss of peak velocities.

i believe you hit it right on Skuzzy.  i found that my right stick ( main control ) is sticking some.
i think it needs a bullet.

You can also ask your team mates what (indicated) speed theyre at and use the ALT-X / .speed command. Just an idea to try.
People who like this sort of thing, find this the sort of thig they like.
