The Jeep is back home! Oh boy am I happy. Except for being 3 grand lighter. Running bee U Tee Full!
Pieces of a piston could be found in the oil pan!
The mechanic went all out too. I'm very satisfied. He flushed out the oil system, transmission, and coolant system just to make absolutely sure no metal fragments remained. He had the headers milled to make sure they hadn't warped over the years. Called in a expert to get the computer synchronized. Ran the engine on the dyno or whatever they're called today to make sure everything was doing what it should. Replaced every gasket imaginable, including the intake gasket which as I understand is rarely done. Also you can add a new water pump assembly.
if he put a reman in the jeep, it was most likely a long block.
what this means, is that it is the complete engine assembly, minus intake exhaust, and sensors.
what generally happens, is that we pull the engine out, remove all of the periphial items, clean em, install em on the new engine, and dump it in the car.
regardless of whether or not he rebuilt yours, or did a reman, he gave you an excellent price.
glad you're happy, and that it worked out for ya. you're one of the cooler doods on the boards here.
