Panzerfaust Frame 2
« on: January 16, 2010, 01:56:18 PM »
Don't know what happened to the previous post so here we go again.  Gentleman and Gentlewomen I would like to thank you all for your support of last nights missions.  I appreciate your efforts and you planning and coordination efforts required to pull off last nights plans.  I figured there would be more confusion due to the number of Fragmentary Orders required to adjust the plan due to a mental laps, forgot plane assignments on first, and then the shuffling around of squadrons due to JG2's untimely demise.  It was my first CIC effort and I appreciate you patients and suggestions forwarded to me during the last day before the mission.  Again It was a pleasure and look forward to doing it again.

Now for frame 3 its back to, YOU WANT ME TO DO WHAT! :bolt:

Both CiC's did an excellent job.  Also a word of praise to the CO's.  The Roster for this event has been very clean with pilots in their squads or waiting for the invite.  From the CM point of view, your professionalism helps us greatly.   :salute  Also, from the God's eye point of view, I saw some real fun fights last night. There was an especially good late air to air furball that spun to the deck and then swept over 2 sectors.  Surely, someone has some nice screen shots!  Nice job everybody!

Re: III Gruppe de-brief detailing actions taken place over the Hungary front, 01/15/10

21:59:45 - Alpha 29 - Elements of 7./JG11 and 8./JG11 did scramble (16) Fw190 fighters, as directed and ordered.

Upon arriving over assigned defensive target, Alpha 8, no enemy were seen.  A few low altitude raiders were intercepted and destroyed by our Bf109 counterparts in the 'LCA'.

23:00:00 - After exhausting our patrol envelope the Gruppe made for Alpha 18 to refuel our now, near empty tanks.

Alpha 18 was hopping with activity.

Without mishap, the staffeln are re-armed and head back to our designated patrol area over and around Alpha 8.

As before, the target area is dead quiet, and a request is sent in to Luftflotte Kommand requesting a recon in force to the east, in response to distress calls in the area of Alpha 2, some 60 miles away.
Our request is granted and the unit turns our noses toward the east, and the unknown.

23:20:05 - Finally the enemy is sighted, to the southeast of Alpha 2.

The fight is on.

The struggle is fierce with enemy contacts joining from all directions.

The battle rages for sectors carrying all the way SE to Alpha 37.

23:30:00 - After briefly dispatching the immediete threats, the Gruppe shot up Alpha 37 in hopes of drawing more enemy to the scene...

23:35:00 - In no time enemy fighters arrive from great distance and from all directions.

The struggle continues with renewed ferocity.

A friend is lost.

A friend avenged.

23:42:00 - With fuel, and ammunition running low, and with attrition setting in, we try to break out to the west...

23:44:00 - It is not to be however, and the enemy throws one more wave of determined fighters at us.

The guns of Herr Hammer.  'Hammer' would down 5 Red Airforce fighters this day.

The enemy destroyed, our aircraft used up, we turn toward the west and the long flight home to Alpha 18.

23:59:55 - Time for a beer!

My regrets sir, on the loss of 4 pilots and 8 airframes during the course of the day.  I would add that all members of the flight conducted themselves in good order and in the finest tradtion our our Luftwaffe.

Sincerely,

Stampf, Obstlt.

Not one of the 68th's finest nights. We - err - pretty much all ran out of gas. We were having fun right up the moment we remembered the 1.5 fuel multi. Ho hum.
