For you editors...
« on: March 19, 2010, 02:25:35 AM »
I am looking for software that allows you to cut video files for a school project. Not necessarily have any fancy transitions, I just need to be able to cut chunks out of video. Free is very much preferred. Anyone have any suggestions?

Windows movie maker. Does just about what you describe without much else. You might already have it, too!

Don't have it, cannot figure out how to get it. I have Windows Live Movie Maker which is VERY much NOT the same. In fact, it is an epic fail version of windows movie maker. I cannot seem to find a way to get Windows Movie Maker for windows 7. Anyone know a way?

Windows Movie Maker 2.6
Download it at M$ website

It's for vista, but might work on Win 7 as both are similar.

Hmmm... I might be moving back to vista as the editing software sucks, and I lost my Correl programs and everything else when I upgraded. Fracking HP won't let you keep the programs that came installed on a special edition if you change the OS.

It works for Windows 7 as I installed it last week and have used it. It is a free download from Microsoft. You want the Microsoft Movie Maker version 2.6

you said HP, Vista, and programs in the same sentence!  :rofl :rofl :rofl

But yes, if the Windows Movie Maker on the MS website is for Vista, it will work on your Win7 machine no doubt.

Media Cope works pretty good for your intended app, and it's free.  Here's the link:  http://www.mediacope.com/
