"If you are having a hard time fighting in WW1 maybe you're not as uber as you thought, and you might want to think about leaning some ACM."
And you might want to think about learning some history and strategy; if you have little reason to fly and fight, why bother? I'm a WW1 aviation fan but you'll not see me in the AH WW1 arena. Why? Because it's just a mosh-pit for biplanes, not a simulation of the 1914-1918 war in the air.
Flying variety was enormous in those days 'when Pontius was a pilot'. The most important aircraft during the First World War were the two-seaters that carried out the photo reconnaissance that located enemy troops and artillery and spotted the fall of shot for the artillery - which was the greatest killer of men in the entire conflict. The single-seat fighters were needed to gain sufficient air superiority to enable their two-seater colleagues to go about their work without interference while denying the same privilege to the enemy. The fight went on all the way up from ground-level trench-strafing to interceptions at 20,000 feet or even more, while the big guns roared to the call of the spotters. Airships and bombers created havoc while the fighters climbed desperately to intercept them.
Unfortunately AH has missed the boat for now by creating yet another 'Knights of the Air' furballer's fantasia instead of the Great War simulation that would have attracted people like me - two-seater pilots and Poor Bloody Observers flying aircraft that would have made worthy targets that attracted fighter pilots like you. Never mind, I live in hope . . .
Cheers!
