CH Products Pro Throttle
« on: June 08, 2010, 10:34:06 PM »
Thinking about getting this. Already have fighterstick and pedals. Been using throttle on my old logitech 3d pro instead of the one on the fighterstick. This throttle works fine just really want more buttons.  Is the throttle action on the CH that much of a improvement over the wheel throttle that comes with the fighterstick?

I have a question about the mini joystick on the throttle based on this comment I found doing a search..."I have a Pro Throttle from CH products. and it has a very cool  [and unique?] feature for viewing. It has a mini analog joystick for your left Thumb. This lets you access all 17 (plus 9 downward views) with just 1 thumb". How does this work for you guys?

Thanks in advance for input.

I use the mini stick as a mouse also 3/4 throttle is full power and all the way adds wep. This is done with a script and a little verelco. You will get four more hats and three buttons plus the mini stick then set one button as a shift and you can double all you hats and buttons. The mini stick is also good for trim.

Cryptic, I am interested in that script you have for the 3/4 throttle as full power then other 1/4 turning WEP on.... sounds neat

flatiron, I use a Pro Throttle, it is leaps and bounds better than the analog wheel on the fiter stick, for throttle

I also have used my mini stick as a way to look over and around the nose both left and right sides ( well I did, Murdr walked me thru setting it up, but I since have disabled it after ver 2.18 came out and I had to go all the way back thru setting everything back up with a new install of the game )

I use an older version of CH Control Manager ( 4.2 I think, the newest version is 4.51???? I believe )  with control manager I have tied all my controllers together as one, and then I set everything up in Aces high... instead of programming everything with Control Manager........

do a search for HomeBoy on these boards....... he has some very informative articles regarding CH stuff...... you will also see hist profiles listed for Aces High  at the CH-Hangar.com forums.....

if I can think of anything else that might be helpful I will shoot you a PM or email

Could either Murdr or TC post instructions on how to program the mini-micro button on the Pro Throttle?  I have never been able to get it to work.  Thanks in advance.   :salute

Get it, you will not regret it one single bit if you do.  You can program the mini-stick to do just about anything you want, that's how versatile Control Manager is with scripting.  I've got mine programmed as an additional 8 way hatswitch but others like Murdr has his set up as an extra throttle.

The best advice I can give you is to go over to CH-Hanger and find the CM for Dummies (think that's what it's called) and read it.  It will tell you how to use all the functions and features of Control Manager.  You can also check out the other profiles they have on those forums for ideas or even use them yourself.

TC ... here is how I programed it

In my CMS file ...

SCRIPT

%DEFINE Throttle JS2.A3
CMS.B2 =  [Throttle <  10]; // Apply WEP when Throttle is firewalled. WEP off when not firewalled

SEQUENCE
.
.
.

Save that and now go to the CMS Controls Tab ...

Find "B2" (top row - second from left) and click on it.

DX Mode (no check)
List Mode (no check)
Shift (no check)

Mode 1 Tab

Normal Action

Press - NULL p
Release - blank

Shifted Action

Press - blank
Release - blank

Comment - WEP when Throttle Firewalled
SlapShot - Blue Knights

ack-ack, any chance you could provide me with a link that will help me convert the mini-stick to 8 way hat please, as I'm having trouble finding it myself. I would love to have this feature.

Cheers mate.

Get it.  I used the old version some years ago when I was playing.  Recently started flying AH again using my son's Thrustmaster HOTAS Cougar, and found myself missing the CH stuff.  So I picked up a set of the USB CH controls in pieces on eBay and saved some $, and am very happy with the CH setup.

I have the PT and it's great.  I have the mini-stick programmed to adjust views left/right and up/down.  Comes in handy when the sun is in my eyes.  Just switch views momentarily and it goes back to the normal setting.

Well it got here today.

Does anyone have those button diagrams for the fighterstick and throttle that you can fill out and print.

Also how do you set up the mini joystick?  When I try to assign it in AH2 all I get is the analog settings. Tried the field of view but did not seem to do anything.

Got mode 3 set up bombers. Is there a setup for holding down the Y key for calibration to bypass the keyboard?

The throttle does not show up in my CH control manager.

Other than the above issues seems to work great.

thanks

I think I will need to reinstall the CH Control Manager to get the throttle to show up.

All you have to do is add the controller that you want in CHCM. There is a plus sign when you open your map at the top.
