Ty...Wind blew alot. WAs rough fishing (at least for me) for most of the trip. Did get into the white bass friday night along with some crappie. Caught about 35 between 3 of us in a couple of hours. That was fun for sure especially since I had my ultra light spinning rod and reel. Those Whites and Crappie were a blast of 4 pound test and a lil bitty rod.

I'd say it was a good trip but was hoping for better weather than what we ended up with.

I use a Ocean Kayak Malibu II XL like this:

(Image removed from quote.)

but configured for single.  Gives me plenty of room for gear.

Wind can be a bummer and it seems on my lakes there is ALWAYS at least a 15mph breeze.

This summer I think I'm going to try one of these:

Went out last weekend gunning for crappie but no-joy! :headscratch:

I'm going to try again this next weekend.  :pray

I have a Dagger Charleston that I really enjoy. Fishing or riding rivers it is great.

Nice.

I'm a dork.  I just ordered one of those side imaging sonars.  I couldn't resist.  Fishin Hell.  I'll spend days with that just exploring the bottom structure.

Its going to be a challenge to figure out how to mount it to the Kayak though.  :headscratch:

Side imaging is cool, very nice.  :aok

Not sure if the side imaging transducer is different or not, but Humminbird sells hardware for mounting transducers in kayaks.  Check out their site.

Also there are many sites that show methods for installing fishfinders in kayaks.  Quick google search, if you don't go the Humminbird route, will pretty much show ya how.  :salute

Had 2 or 3 weeks of warm-ish weather. We are currently in a cold snap and I honestly don't see the crappie season being all that long, if it's even there at all. By the time the cold snap ends (high of 30's to high of mid 70's) the water will start heating up. Depending on how long the warm lasts and how intense it is, I could be in for either a good papermouth season or a really crappie one. ;) I couldn't resist.

I'll be competing soon in a bass tourney on Kentucky Lake for up to $10,000 in scholarship money. My bud who is going with me is an equally good fisherman and an equally good liar. ;) Wish us luck.

Some news about Green River Lake in case any of you are in the area and are wanting to go fishing in it. Don't bring your boat. The recent HUGE rains a few weeks ago have brought immense flooding and many (all) main marina ammenities and buildings are under about a foot of water (at least). The boat ramps are literally TOO shallow to back in before your tires hit the brine... This is the lake's main marina, mind you...

Elkhorn Creek is still slightly elevated as well.

So yeah, there is my contribution to the thread today. <S> Good luck fishin'.

Fish stink but I always enjoyed gutting them and cutting their heads off.  Is that normal?
